Stuck! If I like Auden and Althea, what else might I like?

Just as above, really...

I'd like something unusual enough to be interesting, but not so much so that it will invoke permanently raised eyebrows from my family full of Emilys, Eleanors, Sophies, Graces etc.

To give you an idea, we also like Hester, Delphine and Rowan, but I'm not sure we like them enough to use them (also Delphine v girly, and Rowan might clash with our surname, which also behind with R).

We're not too keen on Vashti, Isabelle, Harriet, Lucia or Seren. Or, to be more accurate, we quite like some of them but don't want to use them,

Any help gratefully received!

Arden?

Laquila · 12/08/2013 09:41

Thanks Smother - I do love Ines but I don't think my husband's very keen, such a lovely name though.

Pottering I used to really like Arden and then people pointed out that teenagers might find it hilarious, IYSWIM!...

Thank both though

Thanks very much all, some lovely suggestions here.

I really like Aurora, but doesn't work with our surname. I'm also very drawn to Meredith but husband not keen. Astrid is very pretty but it would inevitably get shortened to some variation of Ass, I think!

Cassia was on our list for a while but I'm not so sure now, don't know why.

I quit like Maya at the moment but have no idea how popular it is - are there many around?

look at the ons statistics just published and you can see how many there are :)

i have a merryn. we also liked meredith and astrid and i.like anouk.

Oooh, good call 5mad (I am slooow today - I still had the tables open on my laptop from yesterday!)

Ahhh there were only 38 little Merryns last year - it is a lovely name. 1072 Mayas, and also a fair few Maya-Roses, Sumayas, Romayas and the like.

Our other favourite girls' name was Corin, but a lot of people on here told me it was for boys only, and that it had to be spelled Corinne or Corrine if for girls. I'm pleased to say that the ONS stats show 9 boy Corins and 8 girl Corins last year, so it's actually pretty unisex! I think we'll put it back on the list :)
