Is Lily used lots as a middle name?

We've got a more unusual (as in less popular but widely known) first name.

I liked May as a middle name(and wanted it for the month association) but practically every little girl I know has that or Rose. I love Lily of the Valley and it's May's flower so thought it might be a nice alternative.

I don't know anyone with Lily as a middle name. I think it's a great idea.

I love Lily of the Valley too.Smile

I know a couple of little first name Lilys, but can't think of anyone with it as a middle name. The extra syllable means it probably doesn't "fit" as easily as May and Rose do with a lot of names.

I used it for DD2 so obviously I love it as a middle name. She is called Sophia Lily.

I have seen it as a middle name online but it certainly isn't a popular middle name. It lends itself much more to being a first name, generally.

I think it is used a lot,but it's only a middle name so does it really matter? I have an Ava Lily so I obviously love the name

I think Lily is most commonl used as the first name generally speaking.

May/Mae is very commonly used in the middle name spot at the moment. This generations Rose/Louise.

I really don't think you need to worry about popularity, particularly with regards to a middle name which in reality is rarely used. Fwiw though, I believe Lily is generally more "common" as a first name rather than a middle name.

Lily is very common as a first name so I'd imagine it's also popular as a middle names.

But........................middle names are completely and utterly and totally irrelevant so go for it.

BigBongTheory · 04/08/2013 17:50

Great. I'm not keen to use popular names but I love the meaning so I think we'll go for it.
