A sister for Edith

DD2 is due in December and DH and I can't find a name we both agree on which goes with Edith....

We would like a name like Edith i.e. more old fashioned and not really popular but not something really out-there like Myrtle or Gertrude! Smile

Surname is an awkward one and discounts anything with an 'L' or 'R' sound in the middle or at the end of the name and anything ending in 'N'! Surname is also a noun so names like 'Iona' sound like 'I own a...' when said with our surname...Blush

I love names like Elizabeth, Catherine and Charlotte but these are either incredibly popular or don't go with our surname....so, wise folks - what names can you suggest which meet these criteria??

TIA!

I wouldn't go Edith and Agnes unless you want the associated of Despicable Me. (Edith, Agnes and Margo are the girls in it)

Oh, I was about to say Agnes as we know an Edith with little sister Agnes. But then I saw the Despicable Me reference! Mind you, we have neighbours who have Simon, Albin & Theo. Makes me think of the Chipmunks every time Smile

Odette - French old lady name

Haha slender sorry Grin I realised after posting what you meant but I didn't have time to come back! Blush

Ooh, I love Ingrid, Sylvie and Odette...and Clara actually. What about Claudia?

np cloud :o

I think everyone is forgetting the specific criteria here and now just firing in any old lady-ish type names - this one is just too hard :(

Surname is an awkward one and discounts anything with an 'L' or 'R' sound in the middle or at the end of the name and anything ending in 'N'! Surname is also a noun so names like 'Iona' sound like 'I own a...' when said with our surname

That discounts 90% of what we have all come up with :(

CloudOfStarlings · 31/07/2013 21:54

Right, then we need to know the surname! Grin

Only kidding op...but I do sympathise...we have a surname that is really difficult to match names to too!

We have an Edith! I love the name

It wasn't really chosen to go with my eldest dds name as they were born 7 years apart.

But if I was choosing to go with Edith I really like Ida or Alice

Snog · 01/08/2013 07:05

ninette or nanette or nancy

WhyMeWhyNot · 01/08/2013 07:12

It's got to be Ethel.
