Hello,

I have a 15mo dd who currently does not have a middle name. I would like to give her a middle name that means/is connected to the sea; the ocean, as it has deep significance.

Other that Marnie and Marina, what name are there?

Any suggestions are most welcome :) TIA xx

My name is Morgaine As far as I know it means 'Born of the Sea', very appropriate for me as I love the seaside.

Maya is Hebrew for water.
Gal means a wave and the feminine form, Galia, is very pretty!

A bit far fetched maybe, but How about Julia, from the beautiful Beatles song "Julia"

Half of what I say is meaningless
But I say it just to reach you, Julia

Julia, Julia, oceanchild, calls me
So I sing a song of love, Julia
Julia, seashell eyes, windy smile, calls me
So I sing a song of love, Julia

Her hair of floating sky is shimmering, glimmering
In the sun

Julia, Julia, morning moon, touch me
So I sing a song of love, Julia

When I cannot sing my heart
I can only speak my mind, Julia

Julia, sleeping sand, silent cloud, touch me
So I sing a song of love, Julia
Hum hum hum hum... calls me
So I sing a song of love for Julia, Julia, Julia

Wow everyone, thank-you so much for your thoughtful replies.

Our DD1 doesn't have a middle name either (she's 4yo). I had a name in mind for her at the time of her birth but it didn't end up on her bc.

After talking yesterday, she loves the name! Therefore, I nee to find a middle name for DD2 also.

There are some lovely names here. I'm going to give some thought to them, perhaps alongside othe names that mean 'beloved', 'wanted', 'adored', etc.

Thanks again :)

Another thread just reminded me of the name Alma which means "on the water" in Arabic.

Not that I'm pushing "Miriam", but it also means "Longed for Child"

Glad she likes them. Please come back and tell us which you choose!

Mara is a pretty name.

I know someone called Pebbles. Please don't call your child Pebbles.
