Thoughts on Eric?

Is Eric a winner or does it seem a bit nerdy?

I like it. But no K.

Everyone thought Victorian names were terrible at first but look how cool, and then ubiquitous they have become. You can be fashion-forward!

And I think there are some women's names like

Audrey
Margaret
Joy

which are from a similar era which are really nice

Awful.

I think it will divide people

I upset someone the other day by being rude about Diggory.

We can't all be the same.

I prefer Erik to Eric.

It's funny.

Names like Arthur and Eric (agree, no K) leave me lost in romantic thoughts and meanderings about knights or viking warriors.

And then someone comes along and says 'oh, but it's such an old man's name' and that's my bubble burst. But I truly don't ever think of middle aged (or older) men, and find it hard to match those types of names with mundane, tbh.

I floated Eric nearly 4 years ago when I was pg with what turned out to be DD. I can tell you you have had a lot more favourable responses than I did then!

We have an Erik, like it very much (obviously)

I prefer it being slightly Nordic than Eric and I know of lots of Erik's abroad but not many here in the uk

What about Aric? It means eternal ruler or something..... Sounds nicer I think

Love it. I'm in the US and it's very widely used here across the generations, so not an 'old man' name to my ears.

I like Malcolm too, but mainly because of Malcolm Tucker which may not be an association you want made with your sweet little newborn...

I like it so much I'm using it, but then mine will be half viking (OK Swedish)) so maybe that means I'm allowed to!

Possibly OK if you have Scandinavian origins & spell it Erik, but Eric - no.

Eric is cool. Keith graham Derek etc are not!!

Derek and Graham are terrible. Graham is just such a sneaky little name. I had a boss called Graham and he was a devious little weasel, always taking credit for things he hadn't done, busy covering his own arse, trying to 'manage' people all the time. The name Graham suited him perfectly.
