DifferentNow · 27/07/2013 21:27

Love it. Sid is a v cool nn too.

Writerwannabe83 · 27/07/2013 21:29

It reminds me of that sloth-thing out of Ice Age Grin

It's a nice name though Smile

squeak2392 · 28/07/2013 02:45

It's definitely old fashioned

But I doubt it would be too out of place.

squoosh · 28/07/2013 02:58

Reminds me of Tetley tea. I'd imagine there's quite a few of them around, those kinds of names are very much in vogue.

Thanks everyone DS1 is called Stanley so I hope the 2 go together! We already can him Stan as NN

I love it.........It reminds me of Sidney the naughty little boy in Joyce Grenfell's Nursery Sketches. I love the scene when they are choosing to be a flower........ "Oh very well Sidney you may be a cauliflower dear , only be it gently ! Grin

Wishfulmakeupping · 28/07/2013 07:33

Love it esp when its shortened to Sid

Wbdn28 · 28/07/2013 09:42

I like it.

Hashtagwhatever · 28/07/2013 09:45

My two fave old fashioned names are sidney and Stanley.

Good choices

Artijoke · 28/07/2013 09:50

I like it but we didn't use it as we have American family and in the US it's very much a girls' name.

Other old fashioned names we liked:
Frank
Arthur
Ernie (Ernest)
Freddie (Wilfred or Frederick)
Stanley

I absolutely love it.

Makes me think of Sidney Crosby.

FreedomOfTheTess · 28/07/2013 11:34

Artijoke - I have US family too, and it bugs me no end it's used as a girl's name in the States, there's nothing feminine about the name Sidney to me.

Although it's the Sydney spelling that's popular for girls.

mrstowers · 29/07/2013 10:23

My favourite boys name.
