Boys names from the middle ground -Helllpp!

I have a list the length of my arm of girls names.

But zero boys. I find they are either plain/ heard alot/standard names, think Peter, Alex, John, Christopher. Bore!

Or the opposite end of the spectrum, think River, Valentino, Blade, Ghost.

I am completely struggling for something a little different but most def not crazy or Ott.

I have a ds named Noah. At the time, was different and not heard alot but not too different.

Anyone help? Helps find this middle ground! Grin

Since you have a Noah, why not go for another Biblical name from the Old Testament? Isaac, Jacob, Caleb, Levi, Reuben?

Whiteroom82 · 23/07/2013 22:34

I have a friend who called her sons Eden and Blake. His cousins are Redd and Cole. I also know a Spencer, Jasper, Oliver (too over used) and a silly made up name that you get when you throw lots of scrabble pieces in the air and land and name it that!

How about Seb(astian), Seth, Zane or Tobias?

loler · 23/07/2013 22:38

I've never met anyone under 40 called Peter - cool name due for a come back!

bridgetsmum · 23/07/2013 22:39

Declan

floatyflo · 23/07/2013 22:42

Oooh good suggestions! :)

I like Rueben, Caleb, Jacob, but most of all Sebastian.

I was thinking another biblical name bit not the standard John or Matthew.

Keep 'em coming! These names are the sort Of level I am after :)

Onesleeptillwembley · 23/07/2013 22:48

I know an 18 year old Peter and a baby one, as well as a couple of older ones. Nice name, nit too popular.

soontobeslendergirl · 23/07/2013 22:49

The names you've described as "plain" and "standard" are actually quite refreshing to hear, as they're not hugely fashionable at the moment. I think there are many more Reubens and Jacobs these days than Peters/Johns/Christophers.

BlueChampagne · 24/07/2013 15:30

Timothy

floatyflo · 24/07/2013 16:31

Apart from all the Peter, Johns and Christophers I know. My df and dp are both Christopher John!

Maybe not fashionable for younger generations but heaps of adult Marks and Peters and what not.

I suppose its wanting something new.
I love Caleb for example but incredibly.popular right now.

I rather like Seth Polly! Is it short for anything anybody know?

Rory is an awesome name! But I am probably a little biased as I am currently having gorgeous cuddles with my 7 week old Rory!

But on a serious note we had had non stop lovely comments about his name and the reasons you chose Noah also work with Rory. Not too unusual but not heard every day.

We love it anyway. Good luck deciding!

floatyflo · 24/07/2013 18:36

I like Rory. Reminds me of Gilmore Girls! If we have a girl I was seriously considering Lorelai!

Although if you dont know the tv show, you won't know who that is :)

Congratulations on your little Rory :)

I love the Gilmore Girls! Totally where I first heard the name but we are in the UK so Rory is a boys name here.

Love Lorelai too!

Seth and Seb are also great names. Good luck!

floatyflo · 24/07/2013 18:52

In uk too! Love that Rory can be used for either.

Unfortunately dp won't even let me give Lorelai as a middle name.

Fraxinus · 25/07/2013 21:37

schmee · 25/07/2013 21:39

Zachary or Seth

BlueStarsAtNight · 26/07/2013 07:55

Seth isn't short for anything AFAIK, it's just a short name.

Off topic but if you have a girl you could always use Aurora to get your Rory if your husband doesn't like Lorelai!
