We need to agree on a name for DC2, to go with DD's name which is Alice. Any thoughts on these options please?

Eliza (does it sound too similar to Alice at the beginning?)
Emily
Matilda
Edith
Harriet
Nathaniel
Isaac
Tobias
Zachary
Laurence/Lawrence

Thank you!

Harriet sounds lovely together and really like the suggestion of Polly too :)
I really like Edith but think Alice and Edith sound quite right sorry.
Nathaniel is my favourite of the boys by far its a lovely underused name IMO and love Nate as nn

formicadinosaur · 19/07/2013 13:39

Alice and ned are lovely.

Alice and Madeline

pygmy · 19/07/2013 14:40

Alice and Clara!

Alice and Louis :)

BoyMeetsWorld · 19/07/2013 18:37

Alice & Emily
Alice & Isaac

Or how about...

Alice & Annabel
Alice & Amber
Alice & Eleanor
Alice & Amandine
Alice & Ottilie
Alice & Grace

Alice & Edward
Alice & Anthony
Alice & Ivor
Alice & Aaron
Alice & Jacob

Think Alice needs to go with a fairly alliterative name...

googlyeyes · 19/07/2013 18:39

I know an Alice and Daisy

marriedinwhiteagain · 19/07/2013 19:55

It's all here. All I can say is that I think Alice and Ned sound sort of perfect Wink

SprinkleLiberally · 19/07/2013 20:00

Alice and Tom or William. Also Theo is nice. Margaret?
Alice and Elizabeth. Alice and Kate. Agree Ned is good. Alice and Mary is excellent. James is not my favourite name but goes nicely I think.

alice93 · 19/07/2013 21:38

Alice and Rose.
I'm Alice and my younger sister by 18 months is Rose. :) My other younger sister is Madeleine, but I'm not sure Alice and Madeleine go that well - our names are never together as I am the eldest and she the youngest of the 4 (one brother too!)

alice93 · 19/07/2013 21:40

Oh and just realised you'd like boys names too, Alice and Henry (my brother) sounds nice too. Or maybe I am too bias?!

beancounting · 19/07/2013 21:43

I hadn't thought of the Children of the New Forest link between Alice and Edith BlueStars, but I did love the book when I was a child... And I like Marriedinwhite's suggestion of Edward (love Ned as a nn - thanks for that suggestion lovesmileandlaugh!) which would also be in keeping! I think DH is increasingly set on Tobias for a boy though...

Thanks everyone for all the food for thought!

Joseph?

ChimperRimper · 19/07/2013 21:49

I have twins - Emma Catherine and Alice Violet. Their sister is Ava. If I had had a boy he would have been Edward (nn Ted).

GwendolineMaryLacey · 19/07/2013 22:38

I have an Alice Verity Violet who would have been Edward (Ted) if she was a boy :o

BikeRunSki · 19/07/2013 22:40

Zoe < more outing>

marriedinwhiteagain · 19/07/2013 22:42

gwendolinemarylacey good grief - I've almost both.

Mumblyboo · 19/07/2013 22:47

I have Ellie, James & Alice.....and finding possibilities for a girls name nigh on impossible......i think we have the boys name sewn up with Teddy/Edward.

My girls longlist is

Iris, Mary, Beatrice, Emma, Katie, Susannah and Genevieve

but this will all change tomorrow when i wake up hating all of the above.....

Lionchair23 · 20/07/2013 11:41

George

2children2cats · 20/07/2013 12:07

Alice and Miranda
I also know an Alice and Daisy

Alice and Robert (Bertie)
Alice and Edward (Ted)

From your list I really like Laurence and Isaac for a boy and Edith for a girl.

NowPlayingZone · 23/07/2013 13:55

Harriet from your girls names

Love all of the boys list.

miffybun73 · 23/07/2013 13:58

Alice and Laurence
Alice and William
Alice and Daniel

Alice and Emily

GW297 · 23/07/2013 16:21

Victoria?

arabesque · 24/07/2013 12:49

Jane, Lydia, Laura and Eleanor are all nice with Alice.

beancounting · 28/07/2013 21:18

So DC2 arrived on Wednesday and turned out to be a girl! unfortunately she is still nameless as DH and I don't have the same favourites.

The ones that we both like are:
Emily (but very popular at the moment)
Daisy (but too girly for a grown up in a serious job?)
Florence (a bit 'now'?)
Lydia (I'm a but put off by people on another thread saying it reminded them of chlamydia!)
Harriet (a bit harsh sounding?)
Cornelia (a bit pretentious?)

As you can probably tell, I don't absolutely love any of them so it's really hard to pick one - very grateful for all the comments so far and any more help would be appreciated!

I meant Cordelia rather than Cornelia... Newborn sleep deprivation...
