What does everyone think of Luna?

Me and DH rarely agree on names but one that we both like is Luna. I think it would go well as our surname is Spanish. I haven't told DH it is the name of a character in Harry Potter as he'd probably go off it and currently he absolutely loves it!

I just worry people will think it's weird, what do you think?

Defo Harry Potter but I like it anyway.

Go ahead and use it.

irregularegular · 11/07/2013 16:32

Just so long as you are happy with her being called "Loony" - inevitable, I think.

Bogeyface · 11/07/2013 16:32

I like it!

Yes it is in HP but it isnt as though you are calling her Hermione!

Branleuse · 11/07/2013 16:32

I love it

blibblibs · 11/07/2013 16:32

Its a lovely name, also heard Lyra the other day which I think is lovely too.

Choccyhobnob · 11/07/2013 16:38

Ah cool Smile Yes I think we'd probably end up calling her Loony anyway Wink lol my parents called me all sorts of ginger hair related nicknames as a kid so I was never bothered by it - maybe that is the way to go!

Plus she's one of my favourite HP characters Smile glad we won't be lumbering her with something awful!

I was gunna have Luna for DD and thought about it for one of these new arrivals but decided against it. I love the name but DH didn't.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 11/07/2013 17:35

Lovely.

Mondayschild78 · 11/07/2013 17:54

I like it a lot

Wbdn28 · 11/07/2013 17:56

Lunatic springs to mind I'm afraid!

SupermansBigRedPants · 11/07/2013 17:59

No strong feelings either way but I keep thinking 'lunar max' and don't know why. I'm off to Google what I'm on about.

therumoursaretrue · 11/07/2013 17:59

I love it! Definitely think you should use it.

SupermansBigRedPants · 11/07/2013 18:00

Aha, the prison on men in black 3 is called lunar max. I have watched that way too many times!

MrsCliveStanden · 11/07/2013 18:05

I really like it, have lots of fond Spanish memories. However, a few footballers/footballers wives have named their dd this so that does put me off it a bit.

Rtfairy · 11/07/2013 20:07

I love it. I am having a little girl and Luna Grace is on my possible list Smile

CPtart · 11/07/2013 20:19

Wet I'm afraid!

Rhubarbgarden · 11/07/2013 20:29

Really don't like it at all. Seems somehow insubstantial.

hollyisalovelyname · 11/07/2013 20:43

Luna...tic
Sorry

shazbean · 11/07/2013 20:48

I know a girl called Luna and I have to say I really do not like it as a name. Also with a Spanish surname.
Apart from the lunatic connotations I don't really like the way it sounds.
Sorry.

rowtunda · 11/07/2013 20:50

Lunatic

SecondRow · 11/07/2013 20:54

I know a Luna aged about 4, I did briefly think Harry Potter when I first met her but I now mainly think of moon imagery, she has big eyes and is rather a thoughtful and placid child and it suits her very well. I don't think I would pick this name myself but I like it!

pygmy · 11/07/2013 20:57

Flimsy and a bit celeb-y.

VerySmallSqueak · 11/07/2013 21:00

Luna.
Makes me think of the moon and that it's a good strong female name.
I love it.

Choccyhobnob · 12/07/2013 10:15

About 50/50 then! oh well would be boring if we all liked the same names wouldn't it Smile my mum is one who thinks it's a bit weird but we like it, plenty of names I hate that others like!

I think Luna is lovely :)

I also like Lola, Lula, Nuala (Noo-la), so it was always going to be a hit for me Grin
