Izabella or Elizaveta?

After talking names and re reading replies on my other posts. We decided to go on simpler Russian names - pronounceable and pretty.

We really love the name Izabella but DH also loves the name Elizaveta but it sounds too close to Elizabeth and I don't like that name.

If you had to choose which would you go with?

Izabella would be my choice, it's lovely.

bugsybill · 25/06/2013 22:35

If you both love Izabella go with that :)

JazzAnnNonMouse · 26/06/2013 08:54

Both are nice

themaltesecat · 26/06/2013 09:38

Prefer the latter.

AuntieStella · 26/06/2013 09:41

Prefer Elisaveta, but think both are lovely.

FreedomOfTheTess · 26/06/2013 10:03

Elizaveta gets my vote.

I'm bored of Isabella/Izabella.

NooMyx · 26/06/2013 10:04

I like Elizaveta better. Might have something to do with old Chalet School books, though... Blush

Izabella

What middle names do you think would go well with them?

Sorry for my ignorance but Izabella looks like a mis-spelling and I'd want to say Elizabetta is I saw Elizaveta.

I hadn't seen your previous post, but if you like Russian names have you thought of Anastasia?

sundanceclaire · 26/06/2013 19:27

A Russian friend of mine has a 2yo DD called Daria. I really like it. It's different but easy to pn and spell.

I would prefer Daria as fn then Izabella or Elizaveta as a mn.

MultipleMama · 26/06/2013 19:29

Izabella is spelt correctly, and even I want to keep saying Elizabetta when I see Elizaveta.

I'm not keen on an Anastasia, I already have a daughter who's name starts with A and I don't want them to have the same initial. I did like Anneliese (German) but again the same initials.

What about Elizabetta then? Smile, you're not going to want Alexandra either are you?

I think all the names you've selected are very elegant, I think any 3 syllabal first name needs a short middle name
Mary
Faye
Opal
Sara
Grace
Juno

MultipleMama · 26/06/2013 19:38

I do like Faye, but DH has always had his eye on Grace which I've never liked.

Elizaveta as Izabella just looks like you're trying to be cool by misspelling Isabella. I know that's not the case but it would be my first thought on seeing the name.
