We are struggling to find a boys name that we both love, help!

It needs to be unusual (our daughter has an unusual name and we're keen to ensure her brother does too, so, no classic or popular names please :)

Thank you

boys names are harder to chose than girls

Really? I don't think so. There are so many lovely classic boys names to choose from - just look at the ONS lists outside the top 100 or so.

Thanks all, some great suggestions for me to put to DH. Someone mentioned Lysander which I loved but DH already vetoed!

We like latin and Roman names.

Prefer nothing ridiculous or celeb stylee (Dare I say how ridiculous I think the name North West is!!!).

Would rather not give out DD's name as very unusual and might out myself! It is a latin name though.

You have the problem that a lot of the most appealing-sounding Roman names that twenty years ago would come into your highly unusual category got used in the Harry Potter books (Albus, Remus, Severus, Sirius, Lucius to an extent) so what you're left with is mostly names that were already fairly well-used or names that Jo Rowling didn't want to saddle wizards with.

Gulliver nn Gully.

Or as heard in the local park... Orson , which just seemed strange on a small boy butI guess he'll grow into it!

Not Marius - there wiill be loads after les mis... Darius is good though ( king of Persia so classical- DH went to school with one)

Magnus

I think Lucius would also be ok as the Harry Potter connection isn't too obvious.

Thanks all, some great suggestions. Tolliver you are right about the names being used in the HP books and that potentially making them difficult to use!
