Ok, most and least preferred from each list are:

Girls - most - Thea, Lila, Freya
Girls - least - Honey, Sydnie, Dixie

Boys - most - Hayden, Theo, Zac
Boys - least - Brody, Zane, Jude

Some nice names on there.

I would spell Taliah as Thalia, Serren as Seren, Codey as Cody, Macie as Macy and Sydnie as Sydney. I would only use a top 50 name if I absolutely loved it, so that would rule some of those out for me, like Poppy, Freya and Erin.

Hadley is so due a comeback, love it! Classy and simple. Isadora, Tamara and Thea - classy too, as is Aurelia, though the 'rae' gives it a bit of a hard edge.

Honey - I like cutesy names but this is too cutesy even for me. What if she wants to be a barrister?

Carmen is fresh and cool.

NOT keen on Estee or Estera, they don't sound like proper names and the flick over the e in Estee would get left off a lot, meaning her name would technically being spelt wrong. What about Esther or Estella?

Isla is too of the moment for me, I reckon it'll be this decade's Tracy or Sharon (along with Amelie).

Boys names...all of your list is ok, apart from Zane - a bit harsh for a little boy. Flynn, Rafferty and Theo are the standout names for me. I would again rule out anything top 50 unless I loved it and spell Zac as Zack or Zach (or use Zachary and Zach as a NN).

SleepyCatOnTheMat · 17/06/2013 19:54

Sorry, technically be being spelt wrong.

Girls:
Alyssa - very pretty. Really like it.
Isis - cool and quirky. Really like it.
Darcy - cute and sophisticated at the same time. Like it.
Thea - sweet and elegant. Love it.
Hope - not so keen on this one. It's ok.
Aurelia - don't like the sound of this much. Dislike it.
Aerin - pronounced the same as Erin? I think I like it.
Faith - simple and classy. Like it.
Honey - a little too cutesy but kind of pretty. Quite like it.
Sydnie - not keen on this. Spelt Sydney I prefer it. It's ok.
Ayla/ Isla - Love them both but slightly prefer Ayla to Isla
India/ Indi - Really like India but Indi doesn't sound finished to me.
Freya - for some unknown reason I've never liked this.
Poppy - bit too cutesy but it's ok.
Brodie - quirky. I like it.
Phoebe - a good, solid name. I like it.
Lila - Seems like a bit of a non name somehow. Not keen.
Hayden - Sounds like either a boy's name or an American one. It's ok
Codey - for a girl? Dislike it.
Taliah/Tali - Talia is nice. Tali sounds unfinished.
Tamara - don't really like this but not sure why. Bit 80s maybe.
Carmen - exotic. Depends, it's nice but I wouldn't use it on a white British baby I don't think.
Amber - very pretty, I love it.
Macie - not sure, I think I like it.
Eden - strong, simple and meaningful. Love it.
Leni - not for a girl. Dislike it
Lori - not keen. Sounds like it should be short for something.
Drew - Really don't like this, especially on a girl.
Erin - timeless and pretty. Like it.
Dixie - this is really cute but not sure about it as an given name.
Hadley - like it, quite different in the UK and pretty but not girly.
Serren - with 2 rs? I really like it spelt Seren.
Isadora - kind of fancy and sounds like Wizadora
Estée - oh, I really really don't like that, sorry.
Estera - never heard of this. It's ok.

Boys:
Hayden - like this much better for a boy.
Jamie - I like it but would probably christen as James
Max - it's ok. I know a few annoying ones which puts me off too much
Brody - cool. I like it.
Zane - a little bit 'too cool for school'. Dislike it
Theo - really like this.
Leo - another good one, like it.
Rafferty - really posh but I kind of love it.
Roman - don't like this, to me this is like calling someone British or Scouser
Rory - Not so keen on the sound of this one
Zac - I really like it as a short for Zachary or Isaac
Finn - again, it's a short to me. I really like Finley.
Flynn - never heard this as a first name. I like it but I think you'd get Finn a lot
Jude - quite like this and it's a bit different.

I would choose:
Isis, Thea or Eden and Theo, Rafferty or Zac

laravh · 17/06/2013 20:38

There's quite a lot of names on there that I wouldn't really use IRL. At the moment my faves are
Aerin (pronounced air-rin), Thea and Hadley for girls and Theo, Leo and Jude for boys.
But loving seeing people's responses.

absentmindeddooooodles · 17/06/2013 20:41

Boys...Jude. I have a 2yo Jude and still love the name every time I say it.

Girls....Darcy. Its what I plan to call any future did :-)

Biased I know. But absoloutley love them. Really like a few of the others on your list too.

SleepyCatOnTheMat · 17/06/2013 20:46

I wasn't too sure how Aerin was pronounced. For that reason I'd maybe be inclined to go for Thea or Hadley (if t'is a DD).

Elquota · 17/06/2013 21:15

I like these from your longlist:

Alyssa
Isis
Hope
Aurelia
Faith
Poppy
Phoebe
Tamara
Carmen
Amber
Isadora

Max/Theo/Leo/Zac - only as nicknames for longer version
Rory
Jude

Some of the others are a bit trendy for me.

Fraxinus · 17/06/2013 21:33
