I'm all done in with name lists. Is this because I've found the one?

I cannot see lists of names and read them like I used to. I used to read them and say them with our surname and imagine having a child called that name.

Now they are just lists. I can't imagine dc3 being called any of these. Is this because I have found the one? Is that what happens, you find the one, you can't imagine any other?

We don't know if dc3 is a boy or girl yet but the name are:

Charlotte - Lottie
Edward - Ted.

I know people will be slightly about the popularity of these names. Which is my only doubt about them. Other than that we love them.

So is it because we have found the ones that name lists have become meaningless?

I think it may be because you've found the one. I'm a bit the same but concerned someone else close to us may 'steal' our name in the next 4 weeks so have a backup shortlist. Also, it's nice to have some others that you like just in case when baby arrives they strike you as suiting something else (in all honesty I can't really imagine this happening but folk say it does).

My chosen one is Florence which is sadly beco,ing more popular but my other top choices of Dorothy & Daisy were taken.

I love Florence evelynj but dh didn't.

I love Edward/Ted btw- it's my husbands name :)

Like Charlotte too-it's timeless & lots of variations can be taken

I think its claasic as well but it seems to be all over MN atm!

They are both lovely. And I don't know a Charlotte under 30. And only one Edward- my gorgeous great nephew. Only problem is that I can't persuade his mum that Ned is a much better shortening than Ted.

Oooow, you've got one of our final names! We've stopped looking now. It makes my brain hurt so we've stuck with the most liked.

Did you use one Schmaltzing or use a back up?

I know we should have a back up. We did with dd1 and dd2 but I can't find any.

I feel all 'named' out. I know what you mean about making your brain hurt cupcake- that's how I feel.

They aren't super popular, not remotely like Jack / Will / Thomas / Chloe / Isabel. Just go for 'em.

Curlew-in Scotland Ned means a bit of an fool so I'd stick with Ted-there is also the donkey connotation of Neddy.
My dhs [aged4 and the best 4yr old boy in all the world-according to me] is Edward aka Ted or Ed.He prefers Ed so I guess that will stick though the adults prefer Ted.

Those are nice names - no need to look at any more!

Lottie and Ted are lovely.

I love both those names and the shortened versions. They'd be what I would pick for this baby but DP doesn't like Charlotte and we both like Ted but I like Edward and her likes Theodore

I had to check I didn't write this post... I am pregnant with dc3 and these are the 2 names I have chosen!! I wrote a post on netmums (before I saw the light and found this site) asking for opinions and everyone was very kind... Love them both :)

Although I ocassionally flit between teddy and Lenny.

Love the names hate the nicknames. The one sure way to know if you're done picking the name is posting on here and if you're either defending the names or do not care what people are saying then you're done!

They are both really, really nice names.

I don't think you need back ups. If you both love them and can think of no others then I doubt you'll be changing your minds :)

Have you come up with middle names?

Even if someone you know chooses the same name I would still use them as they are not that unusual, so it would be seen as the coincidence it is rather than you 'copying' or 'stealing' the name.

Also we chose our dc names early on in pregnancy and didnt give it a second thought, although we told no one the names until they were born.

They were fairly popular, but not too overused names and we would have still used then even if friends had used them coincidently.

I couldn't imagine having a dc and still being indecisive over the name after they had been born, very stressful I imagine!
