IMO you could get away with ayra (actually love this) and deanerys (sp?!) eddard, Jamie, cersei, Jon, Robert,
Definitely couldn't do Sansa (sounds like a product), thion (too fantasy for me)

Any more for any more?

I named DS2 Gregor. Colleague at work pointed out that I'd given him the name of the most brutal, unsympathetic character in GoT (and that's saying something).

But I still think it's a good name!

SexAndDrugsAndSausageRolls · 07/06/2013 20:18

I wanted to call DD Tyrion if she'd been a boy. And I actually like Sansa and don't think Theon is that 'out there' as it's very similar to Theo.

I know a little Arya.

Catlyn is an obvious one. Shae too (although obviously more commonly a boy's name - Shay/Shea).

Renly? Not too bad.

EleanorHandbasket · 07/06/2013 20:19

Robert?

Oh crap I have read the OP properly now.

Ooh, I like Gregor. Good call, sleepyhead. I also like Sandor (nn. Sandy?) but I have a huge soft spot for the Hound anyway.

I had a discussion with someone once about this and I think we decided that, if you wanted to name yourself after a truly 'good' character from GoT, then you've only really got Arya and Bran to choose from.

MikeLitoris · 07/06/2013 20:25

I know a little Arya Grace and a baby Thion.

Like Arya, not so keen on Thion.

badtime · 07/06/2013 20:34

It's Theon, not Thion.

PollyPlummer · 07/06/2013 20:36

Rhaegon - I am pretty sure this is one of Danys dragons names. Sounds like a dodgy fabric cleaner.

I like Sansa and Cersei, couldn't ever use them though because I have a lisp.

PollyPlummer · 07/06/2013 20:38

Trystopher sounds a little odd - apologies if any one has used it.

MikeLitoris · 07/06/2013 20:41

Well I don't actually watch GOT so just took the mum's word for it that it was from there.

She probably just got inspiration from there.

mynameisnotmichaelcaine · 07/06/2013 21:10

I think Theon is one that you could actually use. Although it does sound a bit like somebody mispronouncing Ffyon.

Daenarys is my fave, but I would not use it, because it just screams "I love Game of Thrones!"

I like the way they pronounce Arya in the series (I always said it Arry-a in my head but they say it more like Arr-ya, which I think is lovely.) I can see this one really taking off. Lyra was virtually unheard of before the His Dark Materials trilogy, and now it is really quite widespread. In fact, I would imagine there are people using it who don't even know of the Philip Pullman connection.

SausageRolls, I quite like Renly too. It just sounds that little bit too made up to me though!

Alisvolatpropiis · 07/06/2013 21:38

Well - Robert? Margaery is just an inventive Marjorie spelling. Catlyn also.

I know an Aryan Grace as well Mike where are you based?

Tyrion is a Welsh name so I think one could pull it off.
I really like Cersei
Jaime is a Spanish name being pronounced incorrectly for the purposes of the show
Bran is a also a Welsh name being pronounced slightly incorrectly.

BellaBearisWideAwake · 07/06/2013 21:41

You could get away with Rickon, I reckon.

(do you see what I did there?)

SexAndDrugsAndSausageRolls · 07/06/2013 22:05

Arf at reckoning on Rickon Grin

I can't bring myself to watch the RW episode again but I want to just for the scene were Waldor (now there's a name you couldn't use) Frey introducing his daughters and grandaughters. There were some gems of names there.

SexAndDrugsAndSausageRolls · 07/06/2013 22:07

*Walder

PollyPlummer · 07/06/2013 22:07

Hordor ?

sashh · 08/06/2013 08:44

Yes but Hodor is actually another Walder.

Trills · 08/06/2013 11:11

You could get away with Melisande if you shortened it to Mel.

No issues with Jon or Robb!
