Would anyone have the guts to use this?? I love the nick name Boa. I heard it on Happy feet 2. Grin

Ooooh. Cleopatra is nice.....

I love Boadicea how it used to be pronounced, but don't like how it's currently pronounced, and wouldn't want a name to have 2 pronunciations either, so that is what would put me off.

What about Xena :)

I like it, I wouldn't have the guts to use it myself, but hats off to anyone who does.

& Cleopatra is wonderful.

It's not so much that Boadicea is a variant of Boudicca, more that it was a scribo (like a typo, but for scribes) from the middle ages. Deliberately using a known mis-spelling is pretty un-Mumsnet!

Genuine variants include Boudica (probably the 'real' spelling), Boudiga, Bodicca.

The original pronunciation is likely to have been boo-deek-a rather than boo-dik-a.
