Have yet to find our whether we are pink or blue but have been starting to think about names, and its actually quite hard. The one girls name I keep coming back to and really liking is Delilah. Just wondered what others thought?

Love it Smile

IHeartKingThistle · 31/05/2013 12:50

Not for me. But it's your baby!

WhereBeThatBlackbirdTo · 31/05/2013 12:51

Sorry but it just makes me sing 'why, why, why...', loudly. The Alex Harvey version though, not Tom Jones!

Dumpylump · 31/05/2013 12:55

Well it's my cats name, so I like it! But, I sing that song to her a lot - you, and your hypothetical dd might get fed up of that - plus, biblically speaking, Delilah was a bit of a bad egg.

CrazyClaire · 31/05/2013 12:58

Yeh I hear what your saying and thats why I think as much as I love it I have my reservations at the same time.

Biblical figure
Tom Jones
Plain White Ts

Titsalinabumsquash · 31/05/2013 13:07

I love it! DP vetoed it for any future child we have if they were female. Sad

themonsteratemyspacebar · 31/05/2013 13:09

I like the name and think plain white t's. But i think the majority of people will think Tom Jones and will get it sung to her for the rest of her life. Shame really.

SingleBelle · 31/05/2013 13:22

It's quite nice. I think Lilah and the popularity of similar names made it inevitable that Delilah would rise in popularity. tbh I prefer Del, or Della or Lila, if you put it all together........ well, it's nice but only quiiiite nice.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 31/05/2013 13:24

Sounds bright and fun.

I'd worry more had you said Jezebel.

MisselthwaiteManor · 31/05/2013 13:50

Lovely, and I wouldn't think Tom Jones at all

TolliverGroat · 31/05/2013 14:02

I like it. It's unlikely that her generation will think of Tom Jones at all, but you'll have to be prepared to not slap the fiftieth or hundredth adult who breaks into song at your infant/toddler daughter. If you are a very calm person then go for it...

Carolra · 31/05/2013 14:05

I love it!! DH vetoed it for our DD... but mainly because our surname has a lot of l's in it and it did sound a bit of a mouthful.

I don't think the Tom Jones thing is that much of an issue... us oldies know that song well but it doesn't have the same appeal to younger generations...

My name also has a well known song attached to it and I secretly quite like it when it comes on at parties and everyone drunkenly sings it at me!

SqueakyCleanNameChange · 31/05/2013 14:07

Evil traitor bitch from the Bible or DV murder victim in an annoying song. What's not to like?

squoosh · 31/05/2013 17:49

I really like the name but the song will live on for generations and generations and generations. It's the Daddy of all 'name' songs.

She can never ever go to Wales. Especially not on a big rugby day.

Alisvolatpropiis · 31/05/2013 19:31

I like it a lot. Lilah isn't too shabby as the likely nickname either. Smile

Though it does in part make me chuckle at how scandalised my fairly religious (but not church going) grandmothers would be Grin

CheckpointCharlie · 31/05/2013 19:33

My DDs best friend is Delilah and she is lovely. Ad her name is the same as yours......!?

"She can never ever go to Wales. Especially not on a big rugby day."

My DD would have the same problem at a rugby match featuring Australia! Grin

If you like it, go for it.

MrsEllsmore · 31/05/2013 20:43

I like it but I am originally from Stoke and its Stoke City's song so I think people would think that was why i picked it rather than just liking the name (also DH is an Arsenal fan so would more than likely veto it...!)

joesgirl · 01/06/2013 09:41

again, WHY??? Do people actually know the meanings of the names they like? If it is just for the sake of choosing a name you like, surely there must be others. If you care about the meaning, REALLY NO.

joanna1990marie · 01/06/2013 09:45

I like it, what would you shorten it too? I have a friend called Adele and I call her delly which I think is nice

peeriebear · 01/06/2013 09:48

I had a friend called Delilah. I didn't even realise for months because she went by Della. She hated her full name and rarely told people what it was!

AnythingNotEverything · 01/06/2013 09:55

I love it! It ws on our list until I realised I'd spend her teenage years shouting "Dee" up the stairs to her. I don't like "Dee" but felt it was inevitable, so now vetoed!

Elquota · 02/06/2013 15:48

I like it.
