I can't think of a single name beginning with 'k' that I like.
Similarly 't'

Mine begins with a K, not one mentioned so far, never thought about it not being a nice letter. Hmm Feel miserable now Hmm

soontobeslendergirl · 22/05/2013 13:54

Errmm Kyle is not made up! Not my cup of tea but it's not made up just used as a name after the various Kyles in Scotland e.g. Kyle of Lochalsh etc

...and it is reasonablly common to name people after places .......even in England.

ThingummyBob · 22/05/2013 13:59

Kayleigh was a massive rock/pop crossover song in 1985.

As far as I'm aware Marrillion himself did not make the name up, he wrote a song about someone with that name.

Only on MN would that be considered very modern or made up Hmm Grin

JazzAnnNonMouse · 22/05/2013 14:24

Why - don't be miserable that for unknown reasons I don't like the letter your name begins with. You probably wouldn't like my name (im not sure I do either!)
Life would be boring if we all liked the same thing!

DD is a Kara - when decided on it we then had to decide C or K... DH preferred K and I didn't care!! Her middle name is Jasmine

ItsallisnowaFeegle · 22/05/2013 14:35

My name is a 'K' name. Sorry you don't like them,

I love my name and really couldn't care less who thinks it's shit. Horses for courses and all that.

I don't think it makes you a snob though.

HTH Grin

KittenofDoom · 22/05/2013 14:36

Knut is definitely better than Cnut Hmm

notso · 22/05/2013 14:48

I'm a K.

Have never thought about what letter names I do or don't like. DH wanted a DC with an X or Z name though, he didn't get one Grin

GetOrfMoiLand · 22/05/2013 14:50

I have a K name, I think it's krap as well. Grin

I don't like names with X in.

GetOrfMoiLand · 22/05/2013 14:52

Don't be offended that people don't like your name.

It doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.

Blame Kim Kardashian's ghastly mother.

DonDrapersAltrEgoBigglesDraper · 22/05/2013 14:59

I agree, I dislike K names as well - much prefer Catherine to Katherine, and Caitlin to Kaitlin, etc. There is only one K name I genuinely like, and that's Kate.

K has been a fairly maligned letter, name-wise for a while now - you're not the only one.

I also read on here once that a generation ago, it used to be T - names like Tina, Tanya, Tracey, Tamara - so your aversion to these letters is a recognised phenomenon. Grin

GetOrfMoiLand · 22/05/2013 15:01

Saying that, my daughter's middle name is Katharine. But that is the RIGHT spelling (don't get me started). DD hates the name Katharine as well.

Getorf I love your name. Honestly. It's not naff at all. It begins with K, yes, but it is not one of 'those' names. Grin

and anyway we get all het up about these things now but in 20 years time no-one's going to be going 'Eeeew - Kayden? What kind of a name is that?' any more than they currently say 'Eeew - Kelly? Jodie? Lee? Jason? Hayley? Bradley? Nicola? Donna? Tracey? Dave?'

they will just be normal names that represent the era.

TheRealFellatio · 22/05/2013 15:28

I agree about the letter G. I always hate it when I meet someone called Gill instead of Jill. I want to say 'what ^were your parents thinking?' Grin

Gill seems hard and clunky compared to Jill.

GetOrfMoiLand · 22/05/2013 16:02

Yes that is so right.

What were those twins in Neighbours called? Gayle and Gillian. Gillian with a hard G as well.

There is an actress called Ginnifer Goodwin as well. She is annoying, partly because of her face, partly because of the ridiculous way she spells her name.

Thank you fel for saying my name is nice. I still think it is meh. In my head I wish I was called something fantastically grand like Berengaria or Artemisia. Grin

GetOrfMoiLand · 22/05/2013 16:03

Jayne and Kathryn are wrong as well, if he are talking about variants.

Or Clare without an I.

Or names with an i on the end. I worked with someone years ago called Nicola who spelled Nicky as Niqui. NIQUI!

JazzAnnNonMouse · 22/05/2013 16:20

I don't like 'g' instead of 'j' either Smile

OP posts:
TheRealFellatio · 22/05/2013 16:31

That Niqui person would have got short shrift from me. She would have felt the full force of my cat's bum face.

I agree that that Ginnifer person is intensely irritating for both her face (too ludicrously elfin-like and not in a good way - not like Audrey, and especially with the Peter Pan haircut which just serves to heighten the ridiculousness of the woman) and for the bloody silly name. Jennifer is a lovely name - why spoil it?

Harrumph.

TheRealFellatio · 22/05/2013 16:32

And Gillian With A Hard G's mother needs shooting as well.

Although I got told that I looked like her more than once so I bear her no ill will as she is obviously beautiful. Grin

TheRealFellatio · 22/05/2013 16:33

Although Gayle was prettier. Better bone structure. Even though they were apparently identical. Story of my life that, I look like the plainer sister with the lumpier face. Hmm

GetOrfMoiLand · 22/05/2013 16:42

lol at looking like the plainer twin. Grin

They were annoying weren't they. And didn't they both shag Paul Robinson? HUSSEYS

Teapot13 · 22/05/2013 18:17

I really like the letter "O" but didn't find a name that started with "O" for either DD. I kept looking at the baby name book in the "O" section and thinking I had a name on the tip of my tongue -- I just couldn't find it.

forevergreek · 22/05/2013 22:49

We only seem to like A names here, really changing to find different ones

BikeRunSki · 23/05/2013 21:47

I work with someone whose family have all E names for the boys! He is one of 3 brothers, and has 2 DSes himself. His DW is curretly expecting DC3 - they don't know yet whether they will need to thibk of another E name.

Someone else at work, the boys in his family, are all called Charles, then they have a complicated system in each generation of who is known as Charles, Charlie, Chas etc and who uses their middle name. It is also a very male dominated family.
