What site do you look at for name statistics?

So I've seen a few posts giving stats "310th most popular name in 2012" and "34 babies called this last year but where do you find this info?

All I can find is general popularity in top 100

Actually that one doesn't give "number of babies born last year with that name" data. Try this one www.ourbabynamer.com/Emma-name-popularity.html

I'd love to know which name you are talking about that is so unusual

try googling ons baby names 2o11 for official stats. on phone so can't link. 2o12 stats not out yet.

The link I put before seems to be for US. This is a UK one names.darkgreener.com/ but it only has up to 2010.

Choccy, that site still doesn't tell us the number of babies born with a certain name outside the top 100. My ds's name was used 11 times last year (as seen on the ONS site) but on your link it doesn't tell me this - it only gives the position.

evamummy - I realised the babynames.co.uk doesn't but the other link I put for darkgreener.com does if you hover over it it says the position and then the number of babies born is written underneath it. There were 4227 Amelia's in 2010....!

From the ONS you can download the spreadsheets 2011 Baby Names Statistics Boys (Excel sheet 1461Kb) and 2011 Baby Names Statistics Girls (Excel sheet 762Kb).

2012 names haven't been released yet.

I assume that is where websites like names.darkgreener.com/# get their info from.
