Weird naming daughters Mia and Amelia??

Hi There,

I have a little girl named Mia, and we love her name. I am pregnant with our second daughter and even before we found out we were having another girl I loved the name Amelia and always thought I'd name my daughter Amelia if I had another one. However, I have now found out that the name 'Mia' is often used as a nickname for 'Amelia'... Would it be weird if I have two daughters named Mia and Amelia? Will it be like giving them the same name? I really love both names. Would love to hear your thoughts! Thanks :-D

I really like Abigail Grace, but my DH isn't to keen on it. Think we've kind of settled on Abigail Lynnae, but there are so many different spellings for Lynnae; trying to figure out which one will work best. :-)

I know there is a Hebrew definition which means something lovely but to me it just describes a servant, an abigail.

But if it's herbew, wouldn't we be all servants of God? (I'm not religious and even that won't put me off).

For what it's worth, Amelia means without one or more limb. It's the name of a medical birth defect and that meaning is of Greek origin.

I also read that Amelia is a medical term for a birth defect meaning 'without limbs'. It also means 'hard working or industrious'. To be honest the meaning didn't really put me off the name, if people asked me what it meant I'd just tell the 'hard working' hehe

I came across Abigail in the Bible and after reading her story and how courageous, beautiful and wise she was I just thought it would be the perfect name for our little girl. It also means 'a father's joy' in Hebrew.

I think Mia and Abi goes nicely together!

Blessed I'm not bothered by the meaning either. All of these are common names, and no one would associate them with those meanings. It's not like you name your child as Parkinsons or Measles, is it?

I was told in the maternity ward that Abigail means peace-maker. She was the wife of King David and talked him out of a huge bloodbath. If meanings are important to you, adopt that one. Can't have too many peace-makers. My Abigail is very proud of this meaning.

It is fairly similar but I know of a schoolmum who has a William and a Liam! I also know of someone with a Kia and a Kai, I was a lot bit I must admit!

Amelia has the nn Amy which would lead to Amy and Mia. Almost palindromes!

Ooh, choose Abigail - that's my name! My middle name is Alice. Abigail Alice - I think they go together well!

Or how about Aurelia, instead of Amelia?

Had to share the brother combo of Henry and Harry.

We've now settled on Abigail Lynae. We wanted to choose a name with a special meaning so Abigail is perfect (after Abigail in the Bible, King David's 3rd and wisest wife). Lynae comes from the Linnaea flower which I think is very pretty. Soooo happy with the names! Thanks for everyone's comments!

henry and harry no?! seriously?! omg, that'd be funny if it was a big litter of kittens and you got to the end and couldn't think of any more names!!!

I have an Amalia, Mia would be too close.
