Erica or Marcia - also any other similar suggestions please?

I like both these names, grown up and not too flowery. I'm just not 100% sure they are the one.

Any thoughts or suggestions gratefully received, thank you.

Prefer Erica quite stylish. Marcia just sounds a bit American to me. And unfortunately that means down market to me.

Ramona is very cool I remember the books from when I was a child.

Hadn't thought of Marcia as downmarket! I have THE most downmarket name available so I'm very keen not to give DD a name which could be perceived like that.

Erica is much nicer than Marcia. I find Marcia American too. I have an image in my mind of a 50 something waitress in a diner saying 'hi I'm Marsha (cos that's how it would be pronounced) would you guys like some cwaffee?' Sorry.

If you like Erica, what about Erin? Or Martha instead or Marcia?

My DMs called Marcia, its never been pronounced Marsha, I only ever saw this in America, in the UK people say it properly.

It's a very West Indian name to me, even though its DMs name, its popular amongst DHs relatives who always comment on it.

It wouldn't be my choice but my god its better than Erica.

I love the name Erica. My sister is thinking of calling her daughter Marcia and I'm just not struck on it at all.

I also think of Marcoa as west Indian as I know a few ladies from that heritage with the name!

I think Patricia is only nice if it's spoken by an Italian or Spaniard as in "pa treesia" Then it sounds very exotic. Otherwise you are likely to be call "Pat"

Erica is certainly not downmarket - far from it. It's a seldom used name, has never become common in any era, and the little girl I know called Erica (actually about 14 now) has a rather upmarket family, if anything.
