another one in need of advice!!!

Ive always wanted to use the name Ava, however I just feel now its too common no matter how much I like it. We're looking (like everyone else I guess) for something pretty but will work when shes older (we are both in professional careers and I just cant picture taking a colleague seriously with a name like Posey no matter how pretty it is)....

Anyway, this is the list so far, any you like, think are too far at there??? any input would be great.....

Seraphina
Ruby Rose
Thea Rose
Ariella or Annabella
Mila May
Wynn

We are both of Carribean descent and Have quite a long surname

I love Seraphina as well as Theodora (Thea) - lovely names!

Thea Rose would get my vote.

I like Seraphina, Thea/Theodora and Ariella. The middle name Rose goes with most of them but seems to have become a 'default' middle name for many these days.

Thea is gorgeous. Where I am Ruby is even more common (as in the number of babies) than Ava. Neva is nice but I imagine some people might think you meant Niamh and get it wrong. Nova is the name of a car, sorry! Mila is lovely too, but not with the May - maybe with a slightly longer middle name?

Thank you. I know Rose and Ruby are common (so not really wanting to use them) but are our parents names so we are culturally expected to use at least one in the name (same for Wynn May and Nova lol)

Seraphina gets my vote!

Just fwi, although I think Wynn is really cool, it's current teen slang for "great" (obviously spelt win, but in terms of speaking it aloud it's the same). This is clearly not negative, but it could become a bit dated sounded to the generation that is currently teenage.

Some lovely names there, but I don't like any of them as much as Ava. I am a little bit biased though, and I didn't have the same dilemma as my Ava was named ten years ago, when it wasn't really very popular.

The only Wynn I've ever known was male. Don't like Ruby Rose or Mila May, as I think alliterative names are a bit twee. Don't like Neva and really don't like Nova. I like Thea Rose best. Love Posey/Posy though (wanted it for dd2 but dp was having none of it!). :)

Why not have as first and middle Savannah Rose and call her Ava as a nickname.

I love Ava even though its popular. From the rest of your list, Thea would be my second choice and is also a lovely name.

Thea is my pick. Ruby and Ava are a dime a dozen around here, to the point where I am tired of them. I used to like both but I think they are now overused.

Are there any other mn possibilities other than Rose? It is the default mn and I find it a little bit predictable. Thea is a lovely, classic, underused name though.

I have an issue with Mila as well because (a) it's increasingly popular but (b) it's a nickname for an eastern european name that seems to have suddenly now been used as a full name. Mila Jovovich for example and Mila Kunis.

And totally agree with you re Posey and other girly names in professional settings. I don't think you have that issue with Thea at all though. It is really lovely!

This bump is going to be Thea and thinking of rose as second name so clearly that gets my vote. Have had v positive feedback on the name Thea. I love it!
