Eon for a boy. Yuna for a girl. Discuss.

Both are Breton names as DH is from Brittany.

Eon is one of the UK's leading energy companies (according to their website, that is) and Yuna is OK - is it pronounced Yoona?

Yuna is OK, but Eon is a noun and an energy company so would sound odd in this country.

I thought Eon was a gaelic version of Ian tbh. Still odd, whatever it is, due to the energy company connection these days.

Yuna is also a Japanese girl's name. I like it.

I agree that Eon just makes me think of the energy company, but given how often they get taken over and/or go through 'rebranding' exercises resulting in silly names, there's a strong chance that by the time he reaches primary school they won't exist under that name any more.

Eon is also Ion in Romania (pronounced the same as far as I'm aware)

Yuna is pronounced You-nah and would be coming from my yoni (never though of that but since you said it . . .)

I don' live in the UK and so I didn't know about this energy company. We will be going to live in Wales in a few years though so it's good to know these things.

I am only 6 weeks up the duff so these are just my first thoughts .

I think they are awful but u live in uk. Eon is an electricity company and yuna is quite cold. Both could also be animal noises

More typically British spellings would be Ian or Iain, and Una.

I do think the Eon spelling is a bit unfortunate because of the energy company, but I don't see why you shouldn't go with Yuna. It's fairly obvious how it should be pronounced, and if that is the Breton spelling, then I think it's fine.

She would spend her life spelling her name out, though. But not if she goes to live in Brittany.

Have you thought of Katarin (think its a Breton name?) it translates well into English in many ways, and has many nickname potentials?

I love Yannick and Erwan for boys, and also like Rozenn for a girl?

I think both Breton and Welsh (and similar names) come from a Celtic stem so may be similar Ehric but I'm Swedish so I'm probably wrong?
