My grandma was called daphne and always thought it was silly when I was little....
It's actually a lovely name! Smile

It's a name I want to like iyswim but all I can think of is scooby doo.

lottiegarbanzo · 21/04/2013 23:17

When I read Mallory Towers I thought it was pronounced day-fun. I recently saw a documentary from the 1950s in which a baby was named Daphne pr. by her father as daff-un-ee.

Other than that, the scooby doo and Frasier connections are ok.

It's probably in the next tranche of names due for a revival, so you'd be ahead of that curve.

Daphnes are always terrible drips.

burcham12 · 22/04/2013 14:19

That's exactly what Daphne conjures up for me too squoosh!!! No idea why.

I really like it. I wanted it for DD but DH vetoed it. He said it sounded too old fashioned Angry
