What the heck do i do with the surname Bate

I have a lovely surname, one i have no intention of parting with even when I get the ring on my finger. I am minded for our off spring to have my OH's surname, but unfortunately this is Bate.What names can I come up with to soften the Bate?

There was a Mr Bate at school and he always got called master bate. I would worry about that but most surnames have potential nicknames.

I also like Isobelle, Tabitha, Leona, Lucas, Kieran, Ethan.
