Started a thread awhile back as I thought I was pregnant, well I was right! I'm around 4 weeks, won't know for sure until 11+6 scan.

We decide on names very early and we're pretty good at sticking with them too, as we choose all baby names very early and the names stuck. We have a short list, opinions welcome :)

BOY:
Sevastyan Alekzander - I love this.
Zachariah Alexei - DH loves this.
Nikolai Hans - DF loves Nikolai
Izaak Rein

GIRL:
Svetlana Mae
Delilah Franziska - DF loves Delilah
Sophia Anneliese - We love this but not too keen on Sophia as first name.
Helena Eve

We'res a poll option when you need one haha.

Nikolai hans for a boy but i dont really like any of your girls names

OkayHazel · 30/03/2013 14:02

I think they are all horrid. What are your other DC's names? Are you keeping with a theme/honouring heritage here?

Helena Eve is the best imo.

MamaBlue4 · 30/03/2013 14:09

I'd prefer to keep their names hidden, I made the mistake of mentioning my ds1's name in a thread and it turned into a messy off-topic debate, that I don't care to repeat.

I'm keeping with our heritage. I'm half Russian, DH is German. All other dc have German in their full names. However this time round we're considering Russian names aswell to please my DF.

The names on the short list are ones we like as every other name from our heritages were horrid lol

Zachariah Alexei is great!

And Svetlana Mae is such a pretty name Smile

MagicBaguette · 30/03/2013 14:25

I think some of the others might be a bit too 'different' IYSWIM?

Also judging by the reactions you've got here in the past!

But, really, it is down to you. I don't have a problem with any of them tbh.

MamaBlue4 · 30/03/2013 14:34

It wasn't on here but on the parenting thread.

I can see how others see them as different but I've grown up around heritage names so to me they're names like Edith and Rodger (bad examples I know! Haha)

I don't mind if people don't like them, I might not like their names. It's all a matter of people like different things.

I just hope people who like any, favor one more than the others to help me decide so I can show DH lol x

I think Delilah sophia sounds better to my ears.

Loving the names though.

Toptack · 30/03/2013 14:44

Are you living in an English speaking country? If so names like Sevastyan might be a bit of a PITA, as he would spend his whole life explaining to people that he had just said SeVastYan, not Sebastian. Shame because it's a great name.

MamaBlue4 · 30/03/2013 15:41

top I live in England. We haven't totally decided whether we want to use the I or Y in Sev, yet but it's basically pronounced the same except you say V not B but I get what you mean although the Y doesn't make a noticeable difference to the pronunciation. And he could just tell them it's the Russian version of Sebastian.

fan I like those names but we'd like to include a German or Russian name, to pass on our heritage. :)

I like Nickolai and Svetlana.

Thisisanoutrage · 30/03/2013 15:51

Nikolai Hans and Delilah Franziska

I'm with DF, both lovely names.

fanjodisfunction · 30/03/2013 15:51

Totally understand OP.

I love all your names, I think they have a lot of character.

DH has just had alook and he says he loves

Nikolai Hans (and says it sounds great the other wat rounds too) and he really likes Sophia Annaliese, I think have to agree with him.

Yama · 30/03/2013 15:54

I like all of your boys names. If I had to put them in order it would be:

Zachariah Alexei
Sevastyan Alekzander
Izaak Rein
Nikolai Hans

The girls names I'm not as keen on but I do like.

Svetlana Mae flows nicely
Delilah I never thought I would like but it has grown on me.
Sophia is pretty
Helena is a good solid name

simplesusan · 30/03/2013 17:26

I like Svetlana, then Helena.
From the boys names I like Zachariah.

PerksOfBeingNorthern · 30/03/2013 17:29

Sevastyan Alekzander -Love, names work well together.
Zachariah Alexei - Like Zachariah, not keen on Alexei.
Nikolai Hans - Don't like (sorry to your DF!)
Izaak Rein - Wouldn't spell it like this personally but still love it. My favourite [bugrin]

Svetlana Mae - don't like
Delilah Franziska - Like Franziska
Sophia Anneliese - Love
Helena Eve - Like but doesn't sound as immediately Russian/German as some of others do

PerksOfBeingNorthern · 30/03/2013 17:30

PS Congratulations! [bugrin]

Tacal · 30/03/2013 17:36

Congratulations, I like Nikolai and Svetlana. Also Zachariah and Sophia.

saintlyjimjams · 30/03/2013 17:40

I'd go for Nikolai Alekzander

& Helena or Delilah if you don't mind being a bit out there

wigglesrock · 30/03/2013 18:00

I really like your boys names especially Nikolai. I have a Sofia so can't be completely unbiased re the girls names but at one point Helena was also on one of my lists but I think I may pronounce it differently from others. I seem to recall a bit of discussion re the pronunciation at one point Smile. Ps Congratulations!

MamaBlue4 · 30/03/2013 22:01

Thanks for everyone. It's helped narrow down. We're now thinking of maybe scrapping the middle names - so much hassle.

At the minute Anneliese is at the top but we like it as a first name - so ANY middle name suggestions are encouraged! And Sevastyan is at the top for boys, DH likes it too now - again any middle name idea welcome.

(Received call from Doctors this evening, HCG levels are high, twins are a possibility again, but not getting too far ahead or getting hopes up. So, right now. One baby.)

Snazzynewyear · 30/03/2013 22:49

My favourites from your list would be Sevastyan Alekzander and Helena Eve.

NadiaWadia · 31/03/2013 03:44

I like all your names except Svetlana, which sounds a bit fierce somehow, and I think some people in the UK might find it a bit hard to pronounce.

Mandytm · 31/03/2013 16:32

I love Anneliese and Nikolai.

I don't think any of them are difficult to pronounce, especially once you've said the name to someone, so I wouldn't pick a name because of that.

ZolaBuddleia · 31/03/2013 19:14

I'm going to take the liberty of pairing them differently and go for:

Zachariah Hans
Anneliese Helena (although I think a shorter middle name would be better)

How many syllables is the surname? Do you pronounce Anneliese with 3 or 4 syllables?

MamaBlue4 · 01/04/2013 10:12

zola I agree about the short middle name but I can't seem to find any ones I like - saying that I haven't looked that well.

Our surname is 3 syllables.

Anneliese will be pronounced ANN-uh-lees (but ann-uh is 1 syllable) as my DH pronounces it like believes that is the correct way, so who am I to argue with a German haha.

All names we've chosen flow well with our surname and fairly easy to say.
