which ones do you like? Am prepared to accept the more 'extreme' end (we have a DS with a kind of extreme biblical name) but like the more common ones too. Any suggestions? Thank you! (NB we are jewish so old testament is better!)

Micah, said my-ker. Means to be like God.

Tis my 4ths name (all Old Testament here too).

yellowowl · 12/04/2013 21:48

Jonah is the coolest bible name ever ! Love Elijah too.

ttcnumero3 · 12/04/2013 22:09

Nicknamegrief - I love Micah. It's on our very short shortlist. Can I ask what your other dc are called? And what girls names you like(d) as we are struggling? (Sorry for the wee hijack...)

Delilahahaha · 13/04/2013 00:13

I love Micah, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Isaac, Ishmael. Also Saul. Great name.

Asa
Simeon
Ethan
Jesse
Reuben

Nicknamegrief · 13/04/2013 00:21

TTC3, I've got a Jacob, Noah and Hannah.

I love Jonah and Ezra too but there are very few biblical names I don't like.

As for girls I like Rachel, Naomi and Keziah. With any luck we may use one of those for a number 5 in the future. My husband also liked Ariel for a girl but I worried too much about Little Mermaid links.

iclaudius · 13/04/2013 12:42

Mumcentreplus you seem quite certain about that?? Any reason?

BigBoobiedBertha · 13/04/2013 12:48

Jacob and Micah.

Oh and Malachi.

JollyGolightly · 13/04/2013 13:15

My boys have two of the less usual names mentioned here :)

On our list for a third son:
Ishmael
Jonah/Jonas
Ezekiel
Jedidiah
Zebulon
Ezra

Jude

JollyGolightly · 13/04/2013 13:17

Nickname- how about Ariella for another girl? I met a Talia and Ariella subset which I thought was just lovely.

JollyGolightly · 13/04/2013 13:18

sibset

MistressoftheYoniverse · 20/04/2013 17:19

Just thinking teasing...'Ya big Jesse!'...and Jesse can be percieved as quite feminine so a big personality would help imo@ iclaudius

TenPenceMixture · 20/04/2013 19:23

Saul
Jonah
Jedidiah
Reuben

Theas18 · 20/04/2013 19:30

Amos doesn't seem to have been mentioned.

also Asher Ezra Habbakuk (Ok maybe not Habbakuk it's a bit too " out there!)

Jonah and Noah are really popular round here (DH teaches and in a class of 18 boys there are 3 Noahs!)

Like Micah but be prepared for 2 mike/Mikey/Micky n the Uk and the assumption hat is " sunday name" is Michael

TenPenceMixture · 20/04/2013 19:31

Asa is great too, and Malachi

DisneyDiva87 · 22/04/2013 12:57

There's Cain Abel, Moses, Aaron, Job, Boaz, Gad, Judah, Issachar, Naphtali, Zebulun.

That's all I can think of from the top of my head that I don't notice being mentioned before.

I love biblical names too but hubby isn't so keen, Elias is one of my favs and it goes gorgeously with our surname.

Michellephant · 23/04/2013 14:32

I love Reuben but my OH doesn't :( same with Isaac. My OH only likes boring names :p

MrsPeggyPatch · 25/04/2013 09:27

Thinks most of mine have been covered, we had-

Obadiah (bit too out there for us)
Jeremiah
Amos
Reuben
Josiah
David
Tobias
Asher
Benjamin
Aaron
Jonah
Moses

I think Reuben and Jonah are getting more and more popular (something I was keen to avoid) and we thought Moses might be about to have a resurgence.

Love love love Josiah, Moses and Tobias and my Ds is one of those!
