Please help! Our baby girl is arriving tomorrow and we have over thought choosing her name, we feel really stuck and have doubts about the names on our short list. Our surname is tricky to match too, it is 2 syllables and starts with Lea....What do you think of these names, which is your favourite?

Poppy - probably a bit too popular now?
Cora - Mum says in her generation this was a "bit Eastenders"
Cara
Pearl - may not go with our surname
Seren - I am not Welsh, Mum was born there - tenuous?
Raya - maybe a bit too unusual/sounds made up?
Arabella
Rhianna - quite similar to my name but not an option due to Rihanna?

Others under consideration: Fleur, Ariana, Marnie
Thanks!

Come to Baby Names at the 11th hour all shall be well Grin.

Lovely names can I put some of them together?

Rhianna Seren
Cara Poppy
Marnie Fleur

Will Arabella with your surname sound like lots of L's together?

Thank you so much for your replies, just getting organised for tomorrow. There's nothing like a deadline to force a decision!

Donkeys, I love all 3 of your suggestions. I did think that Arabella was a bit of a tongue twister with our surname, really like the name but perhaps better to avoid. Do you think Rhianna should be less favoured because of the singer Rihanna though?

I really like Ariana Pearl but my husband isn't that keen on Pearl, it turns out he feels quite strongly about that (I love it). Also, our (unusual) surname ends in D so not sure about Lydia.

Would be interested to hear any other ideas/thoughts?

Love seen, rhianna, Ariana and Marnie.

I have a Theo and my dd is merryn.

Also like bonnie and violet and Thalia but you can't have Thalia and Theo!

Seren not seen...auto correct!

BoyMeetsWorld · 27/03/2013 21:24

Arabella is a fave of mine but agree it sounds odd with a 'Lea' starting surname

Of those, I like Ariana and Poppy best

Good luck with your new arrival!

We actually had Talia on our list earlier. Ok, Rhianna, Seren, Ariana & Poppy are in the running...Bring on tomorrow!

I like Theo and Marnie. I'd avoid having the same initial as another child if at all poss so would rule out Talia. Of your latest list, Seren would be my preference and I would definitely not go for Rihanna. But Marnie is my fave.

Arabella! The L thing doesn't bother me, though. If Rhianna isn't who you want coming to mind every time you say your dd's name, perhaps Rhiannon? I had a childhood friend with that name, and have never met another. I also like Seren, no reason you couldn't use it!

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 28/03/2013 10:15

I inferred from what you said that your name was perhaps Rhiannon?

Best wishes for today! Thanks
