Hypothetical brother for Robin?

DS is a Robin, which is the only boys name DH and I could agree on last time - we're planning TTC soon and are quite likely to have another boy.
The girls list is long and easy, but we really struggled with boys names last time so I'm getting a head start! Blush

Nothing with religious connotations (I liked Gideon), or too modern (no Kyle, Jayden etc). DH also hates Oliver due to a mean schoolmate (dammit!).
Surname starts with a T.

Any ideas?

Rufus

TiddlyChocolateBunny · 24/03/2013 20:58

DH has said "No" to that sadly - I do like it! He also knew a not-nice Rufus at school. Bloody hell - all the nasty schoolboys had the good names!!

(That Rufus is occasionally seen on TV so he hasn't managed to forget him!)

Well I love Robin, ( obviously from my other thread!) and we've considered

Hugo
Peter
Alexander
Christian (Kit)
Felix
Otto (big no from DH for that one)

Can't remember what else because it's been far too long.

TiddlyChocolateBunny · 24/03/2013 22:29

:)

I like Felix and Otto, and Peter is DSs middle name!

In that case I'll also offer:

Ludo
Caspar
Jasper
Conrad

TiddlyChocolateBunny · 24/03/2013 23:14

I'm sorry I'm not keen on those four! A bit too West London I'm afraid. I think we're looking for a plainer old fashioned name if that makes sense?? eg I like Laurie but not Laurence, loved Oliver but can't have it :( , and have such trouble with DHs constant list of objections (but no suggestions! Angry ) that I think we might have to call DS2 Robin II!

Stefan

Lancelottie · 24/03/2013 23:17

Adam (if not too religious?)
Patrick

Would have suggested Toby, but probably not with a T surname.

ElegantSufficiency · 24/03/2013 23:17

Jerome

Lancelottie · 24/03/2013 23:23

Nicholas
Joseph
Dominic
David

London2013 · 24/03/2013 23:25

Joseph is a great classic. You can't go wrong with Joe.

Ludo very West London. My mother was most miffed when I rejected it because Ben Fogle or someone similar had used it.

LeChatRouge · 24/03/2013 23:26

Aiden? I love this name.

Robin and Aiden.

TiddlyChocolateBunny · 24/03/2013 23:33

I do like Adam! That one goes on the list!

Joseph and Dominic too - tho I'm sure DH vetoed Dominic last time for some reason...? Who knows. I'm kind of hoping he's had enough sleep deprivation the last couple of years to make him forget his previous objections to all these decent names!

Batman Wink
Cameron
Andrew
Anthony
William
Steven
?

UnrequitedSkink · 24/03/2013 23:42

Why can't you have Laurie? I love that.

Rory?

thewhistler · 24/03/2013 23:53

I was going to suggest Toby too...

James is a good standby, crosses the social divide.

Ben? Benedict or Benjamin
George
Ronald
Piers
Alexander
Guy
Giles
Edmund
Edward
Francis/ Frank
Caleb
Daniel
Alistair
If not Hugo ( which I love) Hugh
Mark

thewhistler · 24/03/2013 23:54

And Jeremy, lovely name.

TiddlyChocolateBunny · 25/03/2013 00:13

I guess I thought the NN Laurie wouldn't be good enough for an adult's full name? Does that matter? Confused Plus the Laurie I know might think the baby was named after him

Liking Benjamin from your list Whistler!

William is lovely, but is one of DHs brothers, so he turned it down last time. I really like it tho, might try to persuade him...

Thank you everyone! I really have to go to bed now... Bloody MN is too addictive! :)

The male 'Laurie' I knew was called Lori. Welsh maybe? No idea how it originated, but it wasn't short for anything.

thewhistler · 25/03/2013 08:34

"we're planning TTC soon and are quite likely to have another boy."

No, you have a 50/50 chance of either a girl or boy!

Old fashioned classic names that go well with Robin are imo:
Lawrence (not Laurie or Laurence as it feels quite feminine imo)
Quentin
Edmund
Adrian
Dominic
