We decided to call our baby boy Santiago after much talking!! My husbands surname is Bennett so now we can't decide on a second name! Any thoughts???? Thanks!!!

My first thought is that Santiago and Bennett do not go together very well, sorry OP :( Its kind of like Lorenzo Smith, or Derek Velasquez. Do you know what I mean? I don't meant be unhelpful, but that is my honest opinion.

By second name, do you mean middle name or surname? I assumed middle name as you'd said your DH's surname is Benett.

Yes that's the surname. I think an English middle name should diverge trick!

I think the suggestions by Tiddly are lovely but - and it's a big 'but' for me - I respectfully can't get past that your DS would be known as Santiago Bennett. Maybe that's a limitation with me.

Good luck with your naming choices :)

No difference with his cousin Lucas (Italian name NOT English) Bennett. Or many people in England who choose Italian names such as Emilio, Rafael, Mateo and so many more???? Is it?

Lucia I think the issue might be at it sounds so markedly different - Lucas has been in use in the Uk for a v long time, it's not obviously Italian.

Santiago is known more as a place name, rather than the other examples you've given such as Rafael etc which are well known first names with English versions too.

If you love the name then use it! First names don't need to 'match' surnames, I don't think it sounds silly at all, just a little unexpected perhaps! :)

Thanks Tiddly, that's exactly what I mean. I hope that I haven't offended you, OP. Like I said, it's just my opinion Smile
