I have honestly never heard of anyone called Chaise, is it a girl or a boy's name?

forgetmenots · 23/03/2013 19:16

Longue. That's what I think!

PhyllisDoris · 23/03/2013 19:22

Chaise isn't a name. It means chair.
Are you confusing it with something else?

Umlauf · 23/03/2013 19:26

Chase is a name in America, for boys. Do you mean that?

Chaise is definitely a chair. You don't have to be French to know that, they'll learn it in yr 7 at the latest.

I thought of longue

My second thought was of the late Dame Barbara Cartland reclining with a pekingese Blush

yousankmybattleship · 23/03/2013 19:32

It's ok. I prefer sofa though.

breatheslowly · 23/03/2013 19:34

Has anyone ever called their child Chaise?

ladymia · 23/03/2013 19:38

I think you mean Chase?

BikeRunSki · 23/03/2013 19:41

I rather like Chicane though.
(although neither child is actual named after furniture or traffic calming measures).

freakazoidroid · 23/03/2013 19:44

Longe

PhyllisDoris · 23/03/2013 20:25

How about Stool? That's a nice name
Grin

FriggFRIGG · 23/03/2013 20:54

Eh?
are you asking,or telling? Confused

FranKatzenjammer · 23/03/2013 23:20

I used to teach a Chaise (this spelling)- she was a spoilt brat.

BigGiantCowWithAKnockKnockTail · 23/03/2013 23:24

What Frigg said Confused

ElegantSufficiency · 24/03/2013 12:30

I think it sounds silly. Was there a character on Gossip Girl called Chase? there should have been. It has that vibe.

ElegantSufficiency · 24/03/2013 12:31

Stool, that's hilarious! Grin

ElegantSufficiency · 24/03/2013 12:33

I think names like Blake, Blaise, Blaire, Chase, they sound NORMAL in America so I wouldn't worry too much if somebody has the name Chase. They'll survive. There are in all truth much, much worse names out there.

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 24/03/2013 12:33

Am I allowed to use Chaise as a middle name if DC's first name is Arm?

ElegantSufficiency · 24/03/2013 12:34

or if your sur name is long! (ue)

Chase Long

I'm going to have to google that. Somewherein the World there is a Chase Long

ElegantSufficiency · 24/03/2013 12:35

and, yes, there is a Chase Long on twitter and on myspace!

mrsbungle · 24/03/2013 12:39

Grin I think of happy that's what I also think when I think of a chaise longue! I also think of Victorian women 'swooning' for some reason.

Dominodonkey · 24/03/2013 13:29

I think people are getting mixed up with Chace - there is an American actor called Chace Crawford - something to do with Gossip Girl I think.
