Last ditch desperate attempt to name my 2 week old daughter. Please help...

I cannot decide my daughters name, and you would not believe the pressure this is putting me under! Nothing seems to fit her and I am scared I'm going to have to just go with something I'm not entirely happy with just for the sake of choosing. I seem to find fault in every name I come up with- too popular, too bland, not good with surname, a friend has already used it etc.

To give some examples of the types of names I like:
Ellis- doesn't really suit her
Ruby- pretty popular, bit bland?
Ava- v v popular, don't want her to be one of five in get class
Honor- is this cool or frumpy?? Is it an attractive name or hard to live up to?
Reese?

I also like a name my friends daughter is called but am afraid it will piss her off if I use it and it feels like her name if you see what I mean.

I don't want too cute and girly but I do want cool, attractive and maybe a wee bit different.

Any suggestions??

Zoe?

Supersesame · 21/03/2013 15:40

I like Honor the most from your list. Its not too cute and girly and not too popular or trendy.
I wouldn't use the friends name.

I like Honor and Cora..
I think you've got 6 weeks - don't feel pressured in slightest. Stand back and relax and enjoy baby.

dopeysheep · 21/03/2013 15:43

I also like Cameron for a girl but realise the current PM might put people off this name!

HappyJoyful · 21/03/2013 15:43

Carly

PrincessRagnhild · 21/03/2013 15:45

Yes Cora is lovely too

ChippyMinton · 21/03/2013 15:45

Not Reese - too many boys called Rhys.
Ellis (do you watch Greys Anatomy?) - also would cause confusion as to whether she was boy or girl.

Honor is lovely.

ChippyMinton · 21/03/2013 15:45

I'd avoid Cameron for the same reason as Reese.

dopeysheep · 21/03/2013 15:46

Also like Gaia and Giselle.

MarshmallowFarm · 21/03/2013 15:46

Ellis is usually a boy's name?

I know of a few girls called Finlay which seems quite cool ?

Honor is pretty - know of a couple of teenage Honors!

Other suggestions some of which might fit your criteria:

Willow
Seren / Serena
Lola
Xanthe
Hermione
Lydia
Morgane

Liberty/Libby

Cameron? God know, you may as well call her Twat.

I've always thought Chlamydia would be a lovely girl's name though :)

you sound really stressed! there is no legal requirement for you to name your baby just yet.

If you are stressy about it you might want to go for some more conventional/classic names than you currently are suggesting.

Ellis and Reese both sound masculine, which is fine if you are strong enough to cope with any comments about that, but I'm not sure you sound like you are!

I love Honor, gorgeous.
