Well I'm probably not. Last name is Castle and Frog Castle sounds like a pond ornament.

I'm so fucking stuck for names. We already have Lilly, Jack and Alexandra. I have a huge list and would love some honest opinions please!

Girls:
Phoebe
Xanthe
Eden
Francesca (Frankie)
Erin
Harper
Piper
Sophia
Beatrix (Bea)
Carys/Karis (sounds like a landmark with surname)
Georgia (Georgie)
Ava
Anna
Lyra
Scout
Sienna

Boys:
Charles (Charlie)
Rafferty
Finley/Finlay
Ned (I want Eddard but DP vetoed)
Hugo
Casper
Reginald (Reggie)
Henry
Arthur
Bobby
Oscar
Kit

Advice or suggestions welcome. Please be as mean as you like about them. I won't strop Grin

This made me laugh because (at risk of outing self) DH is called Frog. He was given a normal name at birth but the image of him in green babygro wriggling on carpet made him become ´Frog´ and he has been ever since. It raised some eyebrows on my side at our wedding!

Seriously though, I would discount Kit, Oscar, Carys (although I love it!) and Casper as not going with Castle, and Bobby as being a baby´s name only (imo).

I think with your surname the best ones are Ned, Henry, Charles and I love ALL of your girls names except Scout which I hate passionately.

2 of my 3 daughters named are on your original list Grin

I like Scout as well, is she actually Louise?

Francesca is lovely and I think with your surname a longer first name might sound better

Kyrptonite · 16/03/2013 20:18

The problem with Francesca is that it's my middle name. Does that looks bit egotistical?
Thank you for the feedback. Some names have been crossed off the list.

Eddard is v cute - not heard it before.
Like Ned and Kit as nns but not as given names.
Like Oscar.
Don't like the other boys' names, sorry.

Not terribly fond of the girls' names, sorry but do quite like Lyra.

OkayHazel · 16/03/2013 20:45

Lola Castle!

OkayHazel · 16/03/2013 20:45

Oh no wait, sounds like Lol, a castle. Nevermind.

BOF · 16/03/2013 20:47

Kermit?

Camwombat · 16/03/2013 20:55

You have Georgia, what about George and Matthew (Matt)?

Kyrptonite · 16/03/2013 21:01

Round here every other baby is a George or a Riley. Also I can't hear George without thinking pig Grin

OP posts:
Kyrptonite · 16/03/2013 21:02

I like Kermit. Very little chance of it being top 10!

Xanthe always sounds like chewing gum to me (I think some kind of link in my mind to xylitol?), Eden is too place-namey with your surname so is Erin, Rafferty sounds a bit like the name of an old-school empire club...

I love Phoebe and Henry.

And I agree with your DH, while I like Eddard I'm not sure about naming your baby after a Game of Thrones character...

With Castle I wouldn't go for anything with a hard C or a K. eg Carys / Casper...

ZZZenAgain · 16/03/2013 21:06

Scout Castle, Piper Castle and Kit Castle don't work IMO. From that list I would probably go for Henry Castle but I am not really keen on the name Henry. For girls I didn't find any in the list I really liked together with your surname. As far as using Francesca when it is your middle name, I don't see why not.

Bearcrumble · 16/03/2013 21:21

I like Corin Castle for a boy or Tabitha or Miranda for a girl.

You could always do the tribute thing and call it Roy.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/03/2013 21:24

Corin Castle sounds like a National Trust place.
Oscar Castle or Eddard or Edward Castle all sound fine.

Kyrptonite · 16/03/2013 21:54

That's the problem with the annoying surname. Everything sounds like a landmark or tourist attraction.

OP posts:
wigglesrock · 16/03/2013 21:55

I wouldn't worry about using Francesca just because it's your middle name. Most people outside family wouldn't know your middle name anyway and it is a beautiful name.

Bearcrumble · 17/03/2013 07:51

no no francesca castle has 'ca ca' in the middle - sounds awkward and means poo poo in Italian.

ChompieMum · 17/03/2013 08:07

Francesca is fab! Love it! Nothing wrong with using your middle name at all. As for the Italian poo, I could be wrong but I don't see it.

How about Xavi, Alistair, Daniel, Milo?

Bearcrumble · 17/03/2013 10:50

The 'ca' at the end of francesca followed by the 'ca' at the start of Castle. It doesn't sound right even if you ignore the poo thing.

Kyrptonite · 17/03/2013 12:06

Castle is actually hyphenated with something starting with Br and rhymes with tasted. Outed self completely Grin

We just don't use the first part as its too similar to bastard.
