Do you like it? Is it getting a bit overdone? Does anyone know the stats for last year? I'm in Ireland so I don't think it is popular over here at all (please correct me if I'm wrong Smile) I really really like it but have previously discounted it as its rising in popularity and I have a dc already with an E name wwyd?? Forgot to say - we pronounce it Ez-May and have an accent over the last e.

Stixswhichtwizzle · 16/03/2013 21:42

Love it but DH wasn't as keen :( maybe next time...

DreamingOfAFullNightsSleep · 16/03/2013 21:50

I love, love, love it.

And that pronounciation. Shame dh ruled it out pig

mum47 · 16/03/2013 21:52

Love it, was my choice for dc2 11 years ago if had been a girl, think it has become more popular since, but don't let that put you off.

Beautiful name, like your pronunciation too.

lilyloulou · 19/09/2014 19:08

Hi LouLouLoveYou, Did you use the name Esme (Ezmay)? I also live in Ireland and love this name but wondering how popular it is? I would actually prefer if it is rather than call her a name known one knows how to pronounce. TIA

babyblabber · 19/09/2014 19:17

I'm in Ireland too and I only know one, my gorgeous niece! She's 4.

Defo not popular here and I don't think anyone here would pronounce it esmee, that seems to be a uk thing.

Lovely name, go for it!

Valsoldknickers · 19/09/2014 19:24

Another in Ireland (wave). I haven't met any little Esmé's. It was on my shortlist during last pregnancy (had a ds). Beautiful name, I would say go for it!

JapaneseMargaret · 19/09/2014 21:10

Yes, the Es-mee pronunciation seems to be strictly a UK thing.

Alisvolatpropiis · 20/09/2014 12:54

I know one Esme pronounced Ez-mee.

Prefer the Ez-may pronunciation though.

BBQsAreSooooOverrated · 20/09/2014 14:31

I know one Esme and one Esmé.
Personally prefer the es-MAY pronunciation.

Bartlebee · 20/09/2014 14:35

I love it but it is SO common round here!

Always pronounced Ez-may.

Spanielpuppy · 20/09/2014 21:20

Think it's becoming more popular this year I know three little Esme. Two are es-mee the other one is a firm es-may and you are corrected if said differently.

Which now puts me off but is a lovely name x

Has anyone mentioned the JD Salinger book?

It's called For Esme with Love, and the girl called Esme in it is great
