Hi, we are looking for a girl's name that isnt common, but also not too 'out there'. Choices so far are...
Lyra
Carys
Eleanor
Helena
Beatrice

Thanks!

I love Eleanor, always have, beautiful classic.

Disclaimer I'm biased I have one!

I like Carys, only ever known one and her little sister was Eleanor spooky!. Think Lyra is beautiful, Helena is also lovely. Congratulations by the way Flowers

baskingseals · 09/03/2013 13:27

my favourite is Helena.

i also like Carys, but for some reason prefer it spelt Charis, which i think is the greek way.

harleyd · 09/03/2013 13:30

i like lyra

lljkk · 09/03/2013 13:33

Helena & Eleanor are nice, don't like the others.

seeker · 09/03/2013 13:35

Clemency

TotallyEggFlipped · 09/03/2013 14:08

I prefer Charis to Carys. (I know a Charis and she is one of the loveliest people I've ever met. I also prefer the way it looks).

Love all your names, particularly Eleanor & Helena.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 09/03/2013 16:03

Helena is lovely. Love Elinor with this spelling. They are all nice though.

OkayHazel · 09/03/2013 16:08

LOVE Charis, but with that spelling.

Supermim · 09/03/2013 16:16

I like Lyra - but it could easily become liar ?????

Debs1990 · 09/03/2013 16:25

I like Eleanor the best but I think they are all nice names. I prefer Carys spelt Charis like others have said.

CandiceMariePratt · 09/03/2013 16:25

Beatrice

MortifiedAdams · 09/03/2013 16:28

Eleanor and Beatrice are beautiful.

Not keen on the rest.

WickWackThurso · 09/03/2013 16:41

I like Eleanor best, then Beatrice.

Not so keen on the rest. Well, I do quite like Lyra but it's v "now" and so could date. Not sure why I don't like Helena when I love Eleanor!

maxiewaxie · 10/03/2013 20:07

My daughter is Charis Eleanor so they're my favourites but like them all.

dopeysheep · 10/03/2013 20:30

Seeker that newsreader ( Kate Silverton I think) called her baby Clemency.
Think it would get shortened to clem which is too close to clam really. I like Clementine but no -one is called Clementine exvept in the song.

MustafaCake · 10/03/2013 20:34

I like Carys (spelt that way!)

NowPlayingZone · 11/03/2013 10:19

Helena is beautiful. Don't know why but Eleanor sounds a little stuffy to me. Also like Beatrice.

buttercrumble · 11/03/2013 10:20

Beatrice is beautiful...

Skoggy · 11/03/2013 10:21

Eleanor is lovely. I like Lyra as well. There is a Lyra in one of my favourite books :)

RustyBear · 14/03/2013 11:28

skoggy - how come you get MNHQ blue on your Posts? Envy

telsa · 14/03/2013 11:58

Love Eleanor best of all.

notso · 14/03/2013 12:21

Carys spelt like that, the other way looks horrible IMO and I imagine some people would pronounce the CH sound so Cha ris not Ka ris IYSWIM.

How is Eleanor pronounced? Have heard it both ways, we are in Wales so I know a few Elinor's so I am used to hearing that pronounciation.

Laquila · 14/03/2013 12:25

Notso - that's what I was thinking about pronunciation of Charis. I love Carys though. Beatrice too - and Beatrix. Eleanor is lovely but I definitely thin of it as a common name (popular common, not peasant common!)

HerbyVore · 14/03/2013 12:32

I like Carys

and Skoggy's posts are coloured for me too, but not HQ blue, it's pale olive green

Confused
notso · 14/03/2013 12:36

Perhaps Skoggy is a new farrow and ball colour Grin
