Morag's get called Mogie.

Almost as bad as Senga.

Rhubarbgarden · 07/03/2013 22:07

Love it. Was on my shortlist.

mummanj · 07/03/2013 22:08

I think Margot may think her sister has the better name. Not to my taste. But lovely couple. Congrats to them.

bootsycollins · 08/03/2013 01:03

Love it, I've just read Gone Girl which has a character called Go, was quite far into the book when I discovered her full name was Margot, it had been really bugging me (thicko emoticon).

SaggyOldClothCatpuss · 08/03/2013 01:35

Isn't it short for Margaret?

Maebe · 08/03/2013 10:37

Suprisingly, it's lovely. I always expect celebrities to call their children stupid names but Margot is gorgeous. And I love Lyra too.

DessieLou · 08/03/2013 22:43

ooooh, nice! Lyra & Margot sounds great. :-)

LynetteScavo · 08/03/2013 22:51

I like Margot better than Lyra.

Weirdly I would spell Margot Margo, because it's more like Mango than Magot. Told you it was weird.

Gomez · 08/03/2013 22:52

Hideous. Trying too hard.

noddyholder · 08/03/2013 22:54

Lovely

BabyRoger · 08/03/2013 22:55

Oh I really don't like it. I don't think Margot is a nice sounding name at all. It's almost as bad as Ethel.

OkayHazel · 08/03/2013 23:45

Love it! And I like Morag too :D

NorthernLurker · 08/03/2013 23:47

It's a lovely name.

anonymosity · 08/03/2013 23:47

Lovely. And not overly-over done.

MummyPig24 · 09/03/2013 20:44

Love Lyra, hate Margot!

mayanna123 · 10/03/2013 07:33

Margot pronounced the French way (mar-go) or the German way (mar-got)? Not sure I like either that much.

mewkins · 10/03/2013 21:59

Yy the Good Life. Also when I hear it in my head it's said with Lloyd Grosman's accent...

SanityClause · 10/03/2013 22:00

I have a good friend called Margot. It's a lovely name.

jkklpu · 10/03/2013 22:39

I like it but prefer Margaux spelling

SaggyOldClothCatpuss · 10/03/2013 23:06

Surely Margaux is a plural? Like gateaux?

WinkyWankyWonkyPeppa · 10/03/2013 23:15

I agree with LouisianaBlue Simples Grin

toobreathless · 12/03/2013 00:14

LOVE it & would use it myself but you would be hard pushed to find a name that sounds worse with our surname which starts with an M and is pretty close to Mason!

Sasparillo · 12/03/2013 23:35

No, I really dislike the name Margot! Lyra isnt much better, but I agree with pp, at Least it's not Apple or Satsuma! Lol, each to their own, I'm sure she will grow up to suit her name perfectly x

Bibs123 · 18/03/2013 21:11

I am amazed at how many hideous names are popular on mumsnet.

aquashiv · 18/03/2013 22:06

Sounds rather bleugh but am sure as its their baby and the baby will be lovely it will become lovely like all names do.
