Surprisingly it's a girl... But now we need names.

Found out today we're having a girl after we were so convinced it was a boy, if it was a boy we were sorted he would of been Henry. But now well it's thrown it all out, me & OH cannot agree on a girls name, I love Theadora, Isla & Lola but he doesn't like any of those, he likes Imogen & Summer but I feel very meh towards his choices, we need some suggestions. It will be a July baby, last name is an uncommon 3 syllable name begining with L, ending in ..ton.
Would really appreciate all ideas! (Oh & Henrietta is out)

Julia is a good name for a July baby, not too obvious, lovely classical name not over-popular at the moment.

.... although it might clash with the L surname, but then you are considering Isla & Lola, so not so sure about that.

Henrietta Okay, just for starters,

Clementine (world's longest name with surname of 3 syllables?)
Corinne
Marina
Juliet
Topaz

soontobeslendergirl · 08/03/2013 10:28

Orla
Celeste
Carys
Emma
Anna
Allesia
Jessica

MumOfMissy · 08/03/2013 10:39

I love Theodora! Can't your OH be talked round? Could be Dora for short or Teddy (a la Robbie Williams).

I think with a 3 syllable surname, a 4 syllable first name actually had a nice rhythm.

Juliana
Arabella
Valentina
Georgiana

Your OH names seem quite blithe whilst your choices are more interesting. Have you thought about what meaning you'd like the name to convey?

MolotovCocktail · 08/03/2013 10:44

I really like Isla, Lola and Imogen. They all have the same tone to them. Agree with missy that we need some clarity re what kind of names you like in terms of meaning, whether you like trendy, vintage, classical, old lady names, etc.

MolotovCocktail · 08/03/2013 10:49

As you seem to have similar tastes to me, here are girls names I like:

Grace, Eleanor, Ella, Etta, Pearl, Penelope, Mia, Charlotte (NN Lottie), Lily, Lila, Camille, Louise, Louisa/Luisa, Eloise, Anya, Anais, Leah, Stella, Estelle, Helena (Hel-ay-na), Marnie, Mariella, Nell.

MumOfMissy · 08/03/2013 11:02

I love Nell Molotov!

Pasiphae · 08/03/2013 12:23

Maybe:
Isadora, Dorothea, Iona/Ione, Talitha, Tabitha, Elodie, Wilona, Isolda?

PhieEl06 · 08/03/2013 13:08

Thanks for all your suggestions, I like vintage names, 30's/40's-esque with a bit of a modern day/unique twist, I know this is going to sound silly now, but names that sound pretty, I understand this can be different to everyone. My list so far (OH doesn't like any) is as follows;
Rosa/Rosalie
Isla
Penelope
Lola
Maya
Lexi
Polly
Theadora (Dory/Dora or Thea for short)
Cora

This morning we have come to an agreement on Macy/Macie.

Oh & if it helps middle name/s will either be Elizabeth June or June on its own.

Missy there is no convincing him, it's my absolute favourite & he dislikes it the most out of all of them!!
Molotov I like your names, one of them is my middle name. Smile

I will read all your suggestions out to OH tonight when I get back from work, thank you! Grin

Well my ds is Henry & I have a Lola so we must have similar taste!
My others are Rosie & Matilda.

Names never to be used but my imaginary children are called ruby Isla Stella & Beatrice Smile

Astley · 08/03/2013 20:41

I would go for a shorter first name as a long first name with a 3 syllable surname would be a nightmare for a small child and would always end up being massively shortened.

MadeinMarch · 08/03/2013 20:53

From your list I like Rosa, Penelope and Cora best.

Also how about

Iris
Frances
Francesca
Hazel
Rosanna
Serena
Violet/viola
Xanthe
Nina
Lois
Isis
Vivienne
Daphne

MadeinMarch · 08/03/2013 20:55

BTW I love June!

What about June, Juno or Juniper as first names?

DessieLou · 08/03/2013 22:39

Harriet?
Ariella?
Matilda?
Blythe?
Genevieve?
Annaleise?

BriAndLottie · 08/03/2013 23:10

Rosa
Eden
Caitlin
Maya
Emmeline
Bethany
Annie
Isobel
Eva
Briar
Clara

OkayHazel · 08/03/2013 23:44

My Dad wanted Summer and Imogen for my little sister, but my Mum insisted porn stars/ page 3 girls were called Imogen and Summer. Put Dad right off - his daughter could never be seen sexually!

Maybe try this tactic if your DP needs 'convincing' to like your names OP!

LeoandBoosmum · 08/03/2013 23:49

Jemima?
Francesca?
Beatrice? I also like Beatrix as in Beatrix Potter :)
Eleanor?

LeoandBoosmum · 08/03/2013 23:51

Oh, btw, I thought it was Theodora, not Theadora?

almostanotherday · 08/03/2013 23:54

Isabella
