Sister for Amaya...help please!

Feeling very unconvinced by our current shortlist of names. We're looking for a girl's name that crosses cultures (Indian/Anglo preferably), and works with older sister's name, Amaya. I'd also quite like to have Amy as the middle name as it was a close relative's name. Any suggestions please?

Am so jealous - we have GGG triplets, and up until the day they were born they were going to be Jasmine, Emme and Amaya. For some reason we decided to change Amaya to Alexa. Have always secretly wished that we'd kept her as an Amaya as it's so gorgeous.
So my 2 suggestions would be Jasmine and Emme/Emmie :)
Emme and Amaya would be cute!

Love Emme!

I love jaya so much! I love most of the names on this thread. Good job I'm in a English/Indian marriage :D

As much as I love jaya and freya I would refrain as they rhyme with Amaya.

IroningBoredDaily · 12/03/2013 20:04

Nyah (meaning purpose) is so gorgeous and would go well.

BBQshapes · 15/03/2013 12:04

We pronounce Amaya as the 'A-my-a' version, not A'may'a/Ameya, so actually Freya or Jaya wouldn't be a rhyming problem - but Nyah would!

That's fine to add Amaya to your list Pureed, it's a compliment. And KateShmate, I'm now thinking about Alexa....have tossed around Alexandra in the past but Alexa I like more, nice strong name.

God it's hard to please both sides of a mixed race family. And why are so many of the nice girls name all starting and ending with 'a'?! That can be really tricky with our surname, or can be too similar to Amaya. So I'm trying desperately to find appropriate names that start with 'l' or 's' or something!

Does everyone automatically think of the Eric Clapton song when hearing the name 'Layla'? I really like this name, but my husband completely rules it out because of the damn song.

I love the name Jaya.

What religion are we aiming for?

BBQshapes · 25/03/2013 22:26

Haven't been on for awhile. Been busy moving internationally - as you do at 6 months pregnant.

Thanks for the continued suggestions. Some of the names I haven't seen/considered before and I like them. So that's really helpful. Will speak to the husband!

Lila is actually near the top of my short-list twicklestar.

Lynette, we're aiming for Hindu/Christian 'religion appropriate' names! I also like Jaya but it's too close to our surname.

Heard of Arna recently which I think is quite nice.
