Only she is 3 and it's not her name Grin. I was looking at her the other day and I had an epiphany... She is absolutely a Susannah (Susie). The more I look at her, the more it seems right.

I love her name, it was my choice, and if we had gone with what she looked like at birth we would have called her 'Raisin'. Or perhaps 'Prune'. Or something wrinkly anyway.

I have no plans to change her name, but have you ever thought that your DC better suited a name that wasn't their own?

Lily.

It's now been her family name for years she so should've been a 'Lily'

FriggFRIGGisPoorlySick · 05/03/2013 10:13

Yes,she should've been a Matilda.
It's her middle name, and it suits her SO much better than her first name.

Llareggub · 05/03/2013 10:15

Yes. I really wish I'd called my son Taliesin. He'd hate me though, he'd never spell it.

orangepudding · 05/03/2013 10:17

My middle one should have been a Matilda. DH wasn't keen so we chose another name but Matilda would suit her more.

I dunno but something a bit more fiesty. Her name is lovely and not hugely feminine/pretty but maybe not kickass enough.

For me, a name is just a collection of letters and any associations we have with names are formed due to people's personalities with those names, not the other way round.

Imo a person becomes their name, whatever that may be!

(unless perhaps you're talking about true name meanings as in being an ungraceful Grace Smile).

I love my son's name, we had a choice of two and when I saw him I just knew which one was for him! (Can I say it? I'm going to anyway because I love it so much! It's Dexter!) I still look at him now and think its perfect and can't see him being named anything else. The other name we had in mind was Connor.

I, on the other hand, wish I could have been named something else. I just don't suit my name!

I don't think I could get away with cheeky monkey so her name will have to do lol

AmberSocks · 11/03/2013 16:33

my daughter is called Tabitha and while i love it i think something a bit less floaty ad delicate would suit her more, not sure what,I like Lola but i think its a bit overused than it was a few years ago.

I was thinking about this the other day. DS1 looks like a Charlie, and DD looks like either Polly or Dotty. Not names I would have chosen, but ones that would have suited them perfectly. DS2 is too young to look like anyone yet.
