Which (if any!) is the correct pronunciation?

Tal-ee-ES-in

Tal-es-in

Or

Tal-uh-sin?

Thanks

Sorry I confused I mean the way the 'ie' rolls together to make a 'y' sound

GwendolineMaryLacey · 02/03/2013 10:17

This name makes me really sorry I'll never have a son. I love it.

happyjustobeme · 02/03/2013 10:27

Tal ee ess inn

Thats how it is pronounced in Wales.

With the emphasis on the ess.

Lovely.

FriggFRIGGisPoorlySick · 02/03/2013 19:01

I've been saying it Tal-yes-in in my head all day and I really love it,I also still love Tal-es-in....Tal-ee-ESS-en feels a little long unles the 'ee-ESS' are very short,in which case it starts to sound very much like Tal-yes-in Confused
though it seems there is a divide on the pronunciation, even within Wales.

It is nevertheless at the very top of my Boys list Grin for that elusive baby

I love it as much as I love my DS's name,I thought I'd never find another I liked as much so im very happy Grin

I heard it on Child of Our Time last night for the first time. What a fab name! Definitely top of my list if I ever have another boy (doubtful as DS3 only 8 weeks, DS2 embracing the Terrible Threes and DS1 6-going-on-16.....)

Tal - ee - es - in, Welsh name meaning Shining Forehead / Radiant Brow. Name of a 6th Century Welsh Poet. Lovely choice Smile

aufaniae · 03/03/2013 23:29

Tal-yes-in.

Lovely name, such a great story behind it, do you know it?

It was on my list but having a DD.

BeeBopDingALing · 04/03/2013 15:22

FriggFRIGGisPoorlySick · 04/03/2013 20:25

Sixth Century, sorry I got it all wrong. I had only girls too. It will have to be the name of a dog or a house for me!

Llareggub · 05/03/2013 10:36

This is my son's middle name and I am cross I didn't go for it as his first name. It would suit him so well. Sigh.

BeeBopDingALing · 05/03/2013 10:55

I thought it was a girls name.

CelticPromise · 11/03/2013 13:44

Tal-YES-in. The one on Child of our Time is not pronounced correctly.

Love love love it.

spiderlight · 11/03/2013 19:18

tal-YES-in, although tal-EE-es-in is a reasonable approximation for non-Welsh speakers. It's pronounced incorrectly on Child of our Time, as CelticPromise says, and has irritated me for the past umpteen years! Lovely lovely name.
