Ok so I entered my daughter into the local newspapers best baby competition. I've bought the newspaper today and in my daughter's category there are the following:

Acer (girl)
Minnie
Oakley
Sasha-Belle (actually love this but still..)
Maisie-Mae
Jäger (girl)
Avah'Riane
Tyla-Jay (girl)
Harijak (as in Harry Jack, not a mixed heritage baby from photo/surname)
Riley-Gareth
Teejai (boy)
Ocean (girl)
And that old favourite....Nevaeh : )

Grin that feels better!

I am from South London.

NONE of those names surprises me! I read the list thinking, yes, and? I have clearly been round here too long.

Some of these names are truly hideous! Klamidia??!! Why didn't the registrar stop them? I like Frank though.

Female is when the haven't chosen a name! we had a female at school, well she had a name but on her birth cert it said female. stupid parents couldn't pick a name and sort out the admin????

Still18atheart · 02/03/2013 16:48

Quite like Maisie - Mae. Would have thought Acer would have been a boys name. Perhaps she was conceived with the help of a laptop.

No offence taken hazel - it wasn't planned, just happened to be in the shopping centre when the photographer was there.

lula I'm guessing it's Ava then Rhianne just with unique spelling Grin

The apostrophe seems to be the new hyphen where names are concerned. I think it's still mostly chosen by parents who have an African-Caribbean heritage but it will spread and become pretty commonplace among working class white people eventually, as they are often swayed by black popular culture.

ripsishere · 04/03/2013 03:42

At this one she has
Fanny Pong
Fanny Kok and best of all Minge someone or other.

FellNel · 04/03/2013 14:28

How do you pronounce Nevaeh? It's very tricky.

Aah. I get it now. It's that old silent A again. Hmm

Grin
FellNel · 04/03/2013 15:34

Or silent E, take your pick. Either way it's bollocks.

ripsishere · 05/03/2013 00:28

Bessie123 · 05/03/2013 00:34
