Do you like either...also could you suggest more names in a similar style?

I can't believe you would consider calling a child Biba, it would sound an awful lot to me like you were a huge Justin Beiber

Sorry but that's a really ignorant response, its a name that has been around since way before he was even a twinkle in his DMs eye, I have a very elegant, beautiful & extremely intelligent, lovely friend in her forties who is a Biba, she is French & I personally think its a lovely name & I can't imagine anyone else but yourself think of JB

I refer it to Hebe, which to me sounds a bit too old lady

hatsybatsy · 27/02/2013 10:17

hebe is the better of the 2 IMO.

dido?

(think the bieber response is valid actually - that is what will be the contemporary comparison while this child is growing up - apologies to any elegant French ladies.....)

rockin i apologise if i offended you, but i thought the point of these threads is to tell the OP what your first reaction to the name is. That is mine.

Also, being a childminder, i can tell you that all i have to say is 'cebeebies' or beep to some children and they start talking about JB! He's (unfortunately) very popular among children and imo, a terrible example for them, so as a parent naming a child, this would worry me.

rockinhippy · 27/02/2013 10:29

No you didn't offend me at allI was just very surprised that was the first thoughts on an old classic & pretty name - mind you my DD & her friends hate him, so maybe I'm [thankfully ] living in a Beiber free bubble:)

belfastbigmillie · 27/02/2013 10:33

I think Biba is very cool.

rockinhippy · 27/02/2013 10:35

Thinking in it, we know a teen Biba too (can't believe I forgot that as good friends DDBlush & yes ultra cool kid with extremely cool muso parents :)

umiaisha · 27/02/2013 17:05

I considered it for DD (nearly 7) but went for Coco in the end.

Still really love it. Its popular in the Middle East, normally as the short version of Habibti (sp?) which means sweetheart.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 27/02/2013 18:06

Both lovely names (unhelpful), along the same lines would also suggest
Zaza
Dana
Dede
Pia
Yoko

QuickLookBusy · 27/02/2013 18:10

Dd has a friend called Hebe. She is 19 and a lovely, beautiful girl.

So I'm a bit biased but I love it.

PuddingWhine · 27/02/2013 18:49

I like Biba as a nickname. But hebe, no, that's terrible. Heebie geebie.
Clio and Vita and Zena are in teh same style I think.

I know a Hebe, not keen though. Biba is a fashion label you can but in house of Frazier!?

OkayHazel · 01/03/2013 16:54

I I know a Heba... maybe that helps?

firawla · 01/03/2013 16:57

I'm sure 12 is not the only person who would think of justin bieber when they hear the name said..

I like Heba/Hiba more and also Habiba

FrankWippery · 01/03/2013 16:57

My 18 year old goddaughter is called Biba. I love it. I love Hebe too, not quite as much, but I'm biased.

SE13Mummy · 02/03/2013 00:34

I know a couple of people who use Biba as their shortened name - one Hassiba, one Habiba. They are both lovely people so the name has positive connections for me.

Hebe is pretty but I prefer Phoebe (I know Hebes and Phoebes too!).

stifnstav · 02/03/2013 00:57

Reba as in Reba McIntyre? She was in Tremors, which is very cool (possibly).
