Due tomorrow and need a boys name

Have gone through loads of baby names on line and on here but DH doesn't like any of them. I really want a name agreed before DC is born.

The only name DH likes is Edward, but I think it is a bit too popular now and SIL is due 4 wks after me and wants to use that name. DH thinks it doesn't matter if they have the same name. I do.

I like names that are not well used, but not odd.

All suggestions welcome, hopefully DH will fall in love with one of them.

Thankyou

I only know one Edward, so don't think it is that popular? What about Peter?

My sil was saying she was going to use the bits name I chose but I've decided if she does we'll still use it as they'll have different surnames anyway and our families don't see each other so there won't be confusion there.

Also - (I've had 5) - if it helps - i used to get the first letter quite strongly. So went with that. It usually stuck. It can be quite neat to have both first and second names starting with the same letter too - quite memorable.

Someone once told me ( a whimsical, flowing-haired earth type) that a girls name comes to you before they're born but the boys are after they've arrived. No idea why! Worked for my daughter though - 3 weeks late with little progress - then I got the name (in between lungfuls of gas and air from induction attempts) and she was born less than an hour later (nearly in the lift, actually).
Blessings for a happy birth and healthy, happy lo.

Thankyou for all the great suggestions. Some are already in use with my other DCs and some have already been rejected by DH. Some good new ones in there as well though, so will be writing a lidt for DH to go through when he gets home from work. Will post as soon as we agree on one.

You have about six weeks before you need to register the name of your son so you don't need a name by tomorrow.

Even after you've registered the name you can change the first name up to one year later.

Can't believe you've come this far without being able to agree on a name!

Perhaps you're one of the parents who need to see their baby before deciding if the chosen name "suits" them or not Grin

I wouldn't choose the same name that your SIL has already picked out for her son btw as that could lead to resentment.

Here are my choices though some of them might be a bit further "out there" than you would like! Best of luck with everything!

DH has said no to them all. He is just annoying me now and I think he isn't even considering anything except Edward. Hopefully he will change his mind when I am in labour (he did this with my 3rd DS).

Thankyou for all the suggestions everyone.
