Don't worry MrsPear, it is the equivalent of Latin in Europe, i.e. not used very much except by scholars and priests!

moomins, it's actually pretty hard to make up a name that doesn't exist. To test this, I just made up 3 names. One of them had no hits but the others did, one of them appearing on a baby name site (Lamara) and the other bringing up information about someone with that name (Dorelda). I think it would be easy to claim any name was a variant of a 'real' name.

Mine and my three DDs' are all Latin names! Quite funny for a Jewish family, although we also have Hebrew names, just not on our birth certificates)!
Ex-dh and current SO's names both Greek.
