No
Ok
Definitely not
Best option

StrawberryMojito · 11/02/2013 06:03

They're all a bit pretentious in my opinion. Catrina is probably the best.

What about Claudia?

SpottyTeacakes · 11/02/2013 06:07

I don't like any of them. Catarina at a pinch

KenDoddsDadsDog · 11/02/2013 06:27

Catriona rather than Catrina. The rest no.

munchkinmaster · 11/02/2013 07:14

Michaela is a big no.

I think katrina is spelled like that or Catriona.

Lucinda is okay.

Given some of the names put about on here I'm surprised what a tough crowd you're getting

rachel234 · 11/02/2013 07:22

Pretentious? What on earth makes these classic normal names that..?!

I love Lucinda and Clarissa but also quite like Michaela.

rachel234 · 11/02/2013 07:23

And why would you want to add an O to Catrina? I much prefer the sound of Cat-rina.

GaryBuseysTeeth · 11/02/2013 07:27

Yes- Is on our 'maybe' list.
Yes- Love this name. Would use it if we didn't already know one (an 18yr old), she went to a comp in Sarf London & didn't get any stick for being pretentious.
No- I don't like the male names with an 'a' tacked on, the Michaela I know has the nn Micky.
No (I've known 2 Katrinas and they both didn't like their name...so it put me off it).

KenDoddsDadsDog · 11/02/2013 07:31

It's still pronounced Catrina. Educate yourself.

johnnycomelurky · 11/02/2013 07:31

Well I really like Michaela and Catrina though my iPad wants it spelt Katrina. I don't like the way Clarissa sounds and feel like I should like Lucinda but don't.

DessieLou · 11/02/2013 07:40

Meant to write Catriona but also like the Katrina spelling. I'm not that keen on Michaela so glad most of you agree! Lucinda is my current favourite. Any other suggestions of classic/pretentious names welcome! ;-)

Really, CatriOna is pronounced Catrina? I honestly had no idea! Wonder where that derives from...

Allalonenow · 11/02/2013 10:43

I think Lucinda is a lovely name.

Isn't Catriona the Scottish spelling?

poppydaisy · 11/02/2013 11:43

I think they're all great underused names - not sure why they would be 'pretentious' (pretending to be what, anyway?).

My favourites are Catrina, Lucinda and Michaela. I'm least keen on Clarissa for some reason. I'd think most people (esp outside the UK) would find the pronunciation of Catrina much easier than Catriona, so I'd go for the former.

Narked · 11/02/2013 11:58

If you choose it please spell it Catriona. 'Catrina' looks wrong.

I'm not keen on Clarissa though I don't know why Confused.
Lucinda is ok.
Michaela seems a little clunky.
Catriona is my favourite.

ZolaBuddleia · 11/02/2013 11:59

I'm afraid I'm not keen on any of them, particularly Michaela.

What about:
Louisa
Lucia
Lois
Clara
Camille
Camilla
Cate with a C
Marina
Miranda

mollymole · 11/02/2013 12:02

Love the first two.

youmaycallmeSSP · 12/02/2013 12:48

I love Clarissa and Lucinda. Lucinda was my top name for DD but DH didn't like it so she is Annabel.

sw11mumofone · 12/02/2013 20:10

I think Lucinda is beautiful. I would just be worried about it being shortened to Cindy.
If you go for Catrina spell it how you like! If you live in England and spell it Catriona you will have a lifetime of No its Cat-reena not Cat-re-ona!

DessieLou · 13/02/2013 00:13

My post seems to have disappeared...
Thank you for your thoughts. Michaels and Clarissa have been ruled out.
What do you think of Cora? I've always liked it but apparantly its getting quite popular now, although I don't know any.

Lucinda is my favourite from all your choices Smile

JazzAnnNonMouse · 13/02/2013 03:31

Ok
Yes
No
No

youmaycallmeSSP · 13/02/2013 10:03

I like Cora but it's getting popular due to Downton Abbey so will be easily dated.

ZolaBuddleia · 13/02/2013 10:24

I love Cora too.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 13/02/2013 21:07

I really love Cora !
