Girls name - thoughts on our final 3 options please

Hi, It's taken a long time but DH and I have finally got our name list down to three options, what do you think of these?

Fionnuala Olive - nn Lula
Isla Ottilie - nn Isy
Saffron Romilly - nn Saffy

As you can tell we like the idea of a name we can shorten to a family nickname. Fionnuala (or Lula) is probably the forerunner at the moment but I know that since we're based in England this may be a tricky one for others to spell and pronounced (it's pronoucned 'Fin-oo-la').

Isla is a strong second but it seems to be rapidly increasingly in popularity and I'm not sure I want our DD to be the umpteenth Isla in her class distinguished by the initial of her surname.

Saffron gets my vote xx

Saffron I suppose- but prefer ottilie & romilly as first names.

Yes i agree - prefer the middle names. Romilly is lovely.

My preference would be Fionnuala Olive, then Saffron Romilly, lastly Isla Ottilie. I love Ottilie, but the popularity of Isla would put me off.

As the s in Isla is silent, isy is not really a nickname more of a totally different name!

Isy can be a NN, why not?! It's vaguely related at least :)

I know several people with NNs totally unrelated to their given names!

I'm the opposite of you - I like names that can't be shortened! Sorry - not much help!

I like Fionnuala Olive best , or I'd go for Romilly Olive .

Isla and I love Ottilie

I can't pronounce Fionnuala.

Another vote for Saffron and I love Romily too as a middle name.

I agree that Isy does not work as a nn for Isla. Are you pronoucing "Isy" as Is - ie (Izzy) or as Eye-sie (Icy)?

I don't really like the first combo but LOVE the other two equally!

To use the NN isy I think it'd be best to spell it after the island Islay (though you may get some Eye-Lay pronouciations :/) However, Isla is very popular.

I'm not keen on your first name choices, though love middles. However love the NN Lula so would go with choice #1 on that basis alone.

Finoola makes me think of childish names for private parts- sorry!
