hi, I need to find an arabic boys name that i like and everyone here can SAY. At the moment DH and i just roll around laughing at all his Abdulla/Amed/Osama/Hamdi/Mustafa/ sugestions!!!! I need to find something that will work here and in the Middle East!!
I liked Ali but there are 3 under 5's in his family called Ali.
We're not very religious but DH would not even concider anything but an arabic name, ( baby will have all his names as is traditional)

any Ideas?

Jamil...

My family are all Arabic blood so it literally runs in the family

sleepcrisis · 05/02/2013 21:37

I have a Sami which I obviously love, but also top in the running were Isa, Rafi and Idris

Gunznroses · 05/02/2013 21:53

I like:
'Farouq' or 'Faruk'.
Taofiq
Mosin

HardlyEverHoovers · 05/02/2013 21:59

Adam and Haris spring to mind as cross cultural, or Zakariya which can be shortened to Zaki

mackerella · 06/02/2013 15:01

Based on family/friends, some reasonably cross-cultural names might be:

Iskander (i.e. Alexander)
Sami (Sam)
Hanny/Hani
Rafik (could have the nn Rafi?)
Samir
Magdi/Magdy

I assume your DH is a Muslim? I can think of a few other names, but some of them might be too "Christian", iyswim? For example, we also have a Girgis (George) and a Youeel (Joel) in our family, but I'm not sure if those names are also used by Muslims?

CoteDAzur · 06/02/2013 21:57

Kuzey ("North") is Turkish, not Arabic nor even remotely religious. Eamon is Gaelic, I think.

mackerella · 06/02/2013 22:26

Just thought: other (Middle Eastern) family and friends have "Frenchified" names like Henri, Charles, Alfred (!), Natalie, Virginie, Suzanne... but these are probably not "Arabic" enough for your DH Grin

binkybonk · 07/02/2013 13:09
