Convince your DH! Ophelia is beautifil. Laila is ok but not a patch on Ophelia!

Love Ophelia - classic, beautiful and not overused.
I'm less keen on Laila/Layla.

HillBillySillyBilly · 29/01/2013 19:05

Ophelia is gorgeous Laila is chavvy.

EchoBitch · 29/01/2013 19:07

Ophelia Fanny is the name of the future baby daughter of Kate and Wills.

Hassled · 29/01/2013 19:08

Ophelia sounds and looks lovely but to me also has the tragic Hamlet connotations. Laila is gorgeous.

bumbagsnbananaslides · 29/01/2013 21:47

thats why my DH doesnt like it because of the Hamlet story

i doubt ill convince him

i had to read that a few times there Echo ha ha

I like Laila because of the ancient Persian poem "Layla and Majnun"; some scholars think it was the inspiration for Romeo and Juliet. "Layla in beauty, softness, grace/Surpassed the loveliest of her race." And so on.

determinedma · 29/01/2013 22:47

Ophelia is poncey

PixelAteMyFace · 29/01/2013 23:04

Ophelia is a lovely, feminine name.

Laila has become chavvy.

mathanxiety · 29/01/2013 23:12

I prefer Laila to Ophelia.

What do you think of Lyra?

shoobidoo · 30/01/2013 10:36

Another vote for Ophelia - elegant, feminine and not used that widely.

Not keen on Laila at all, I'm afraid.

OkayHazel · 30/01/2013 16:59

Ophelia is a very tragic, pathetic character. As pretty as the name is, I would never name my daughter after a character that killed herself over a man!

Yfronts · 30/01/2013 19:12

Laila sounds a bit smutty to me. Sorry.

Lillia, Lila, Ottilie, Seraphine , Josephine, Clementine,
