Claudia, Cecilia, or Lara?

Expecting DC2, don't know the gender but these names are amongst our favourites for girls, though DH not so keen on Cecilia.

We have a rather harsh, short surname beginning with F, and middle name would be either Anne or Alice.

Your thoughts please?

Not over-keen on Claudia because of its meaning, but if it doesn't bother you it's nice.

Lara is ok, but possibly a bit dull, to my ears.

I like Cecilia best Smile

I think Claudia is lovely and Lara is also nice. Not keen on Cecilia - I think its a prissy, boarding schooly type name.

Wibblytummy · 09/01/2013 12:16

Claudia and Cecilia would be my picks just because Lara seems to be a very popular name around my area but all three are very lovely. Think Anne goes nicest with those choices too.

Dislike Lara for some unknown reason. Sorry bit dull.

Claudia is lovely. Also prefer Celeste to Cecilia

Beatrixpotty · 09/01/2013 17:19

I lIke Cecilia..already know a lovely 3year old one nn CC

pinkandyellowbutterfly · 09/01/2013 18:17

I love Lara, its a gentle, soft name. Have you considered Clara? It is also a nice and the c sound gives the advantage of little crisper pronounciation when calling accross the playground!

Kaekae · 09/01/2013 18:33

Claudia for me don't like Lara sounds like Tara which I detest.

dizzydixies · 09/01/2013 19:18

DD2 has Cecelia as her MN and had I known we were to have DD3 I would've kept it lol

Claudia pretty
Lara ok

What about Celia if DH not keen on Cecilia?
Celeste
Corrinne

StellaNova · 09/01/2013 19:22

I think Lara is lovely. Very Dr Zhivago.

MarmaladeSkies · 09/01/2013 19:45

Claudia is beautiful.

Cecilia is gorgeous.

I really dislike Lara.

aviella0m · 09/01/2013 20:01

Lara is pretty :-)

FernandoIsFaster · 09/01/2013 20:08

Claudia definitely. I love it but backed out of using it because I thought other people would hate it. I wish I hadn't after seeing how many people on here like it!

pjforever · 09/01/2013 20:11

what about celia.

Rhubarbgarden · 10/01/2013 07:08

Lara is beautiful.

SchmancyPants · 10/01/2013 07:13

I think they are all lovely. What about Cordelia?

BoerWarKids · 10/01/2013 08:32

I really like all 3, but Cecelia is my fave. Cee or Cece as a NN.

sonnieboo · 10/01/2013 11:07

Unfortunately both Claudia (lame/disabled) and Cecilia (blind) have unfortunate meanings, derived from the latin words claudus and caecus.

Lara, not having an obvious meaning, is nicer in that respect but I personally don't like the sound of it very much.

How about Celeste, Clementine, Caroline?

sonnieboo · 10/01/2013 11:07

Also love Cordelia!

tammytoby · 10/01/2013 11:29

Shame about the meanings of Claudia and Cecilia. How about Larissa?

PorkusEnormous · 10/01/2013 15:41

Not a fan of Cecilia. Nor Claudia. I really like Lara, top on my list for DD atm.

8oreighty · 10/01/2013 15:44

I always think why Lara and not Laura, you'd spend your whole life with people calling you Laura and correcting them...bit annoying. Cecilia is lovely.

shartsi · 10/01/2013 16:18

What of Cara instead of Lara?

phlebas · 10/01/2013 17:45

I have a 12yo Claudia so am obviously biased Wink Cecilia is more popular & has a similar unfortunate meaning to Claudia if you are bothered by such things. One of the Cecilias I know is called Cissy which might be a problem I guess.

Not a big fan of Lara - how about Cordelia or Cressida, or even Perdita?

8oreighty · 11/01/2013 16:40

Or Clara? Lovely name and everyone knows how to spell it and pronouce it.

Trills · 11/01/2013 16:41

Will you say it
Claw-dia
or
Cloud-ia
?

(exaggerations but you know what I mean)
