Help! We can't agree - Freddie or Frederic

Me and DP can't agree. I like Freddie as a full name whereas he only likes it if the full name was Frederic, which I don't like! We also both like the names James and Owen but he prefers Frederic and is rather stubborn! We can't find a compromise, any ideas??

Well, Freddie isn't a full name.
I like Frederick but don't like Freddie.
James is nice too.
You will have to find a compromise - Edward? Nn could be Teddy. Wilfred?

I know Freddie isn't a full name but I like it as one. Nephew is called William so not keen on Wilfred. Also, as other nephew's middle name is Freddie, we liked it as a sort of family name. Any help is very much appreciated though. Thank you!

I much prefer full names - Frederick. Alfred would also work with Freddie.

Frederick, known as Freddie.

I agree with your husband, Frederick is the full name, Freddie is a diminutive.

I usually do much prefer full names too and I've always said that but for some reason I just can't get on with Frederick. I think it's maybe the '-rick' part

I was just the same - likes freddy but not Frederick. DS1 is Frederick on BC but always call him fred / freddy. Only Frederick when v cross!

Thanks everyone. I think it looks like I'll go with the full name and only save using it until it's really necessary Grin
