Idris Horatio Pip M**s

Artemis Pip M**s

Emrys Pip M**s

Pip is what we are calling bump currently and want to use as a middle name. Our surname is Lithuanian.

I like Emrys a lot. If there are no more S's in the surname other than the one at the end, it's fine.

I'm not struck on Pip!

Is Artemis used as a boys' name?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artemis

I don't think the 's' sounds are a problem, but don't understand why you would name your son after a Greek goddess.

I like Emrys, but the Merlin connection would put me off. Agree with others that Artimis is goddess of the hunt, artimus is the god but also slang for a large lazy male apparently. Quite like Idris too.

Artemis is from my husbands favourite, also a kids, book called Artemis Fowl about a child genius criminal mastermind, we have no issue with it otherwise being a goddess name. The female long version Artemisia is also on our list.

Idris is my top choice, I love it and its meaning, fiery lord!

Merlin connection?

Merlin Ambroisius translates into Welsh as Myrddin Emrys. In the recent BBC series Emrys was the name Merlin was called by the Druids. It means immortal so makes sense in the context of Arthurian legends.

Artemis is a girls name isnt it?

Idris and Emrys are lovely, and I dont think there are too many 's' sounds at all.
